Laser Lace Letters Debuts on KickstarterTexan Designer Haley Moore Presents Seven Tangible Short Stories

Dallas, TX - October 25, 2012 - Local designer Haley Moore, in collaboration with Yomi Ayeni and Clockwork Watch, launches a campaign today to move her new indie storytelling project, Laser Lace Letters, into production by raising funds on Kickstarter.

Laser Lace Letters is a line of laser-cut felt cameo pins which are accompanied by tangible stories. Readers can sift through evidence, including letters, newspaper clippings, inventors' sketches, advertisements, photographs, and other realistically produced fictional items pertaining to the person whose silhouette appears in the cameo.

Laser Lace Letters follows the stories of seven people who disappeared after visiting an automated shop in London that promises to capture faithful silhouettes automatically. Their characters come from many walks of life, from Sarah, the aviatrix who left her lover for a chance to fly one of Her Majesty's airships; to Linnaeus, the mad scientist looking for a way to cross over into the other universe to find his missing son; to Lucy, an assassin who uses a fleet of tiny robots as her weapon of choice.

The collection features seven individual stories, each with a unique cameo design, set in a steampunk version of Victorian London.

Examples of artifacts found in the tangible stories include:

• A charlatan's pamphlet about the appearance of aethereal cities in bolts of lightning.

• The letter a young socialite left for her family, the night she ran away.

• A help wanted advertisement, calling for door-to-door sales girls to hawk pocket robots.

• Plans for a machine designed to evaluate people's souls - and act accordingly.

• The report of a police officer who saw his partner vanish right in front of his eyes.

During the Kickstarter campaign, backers can choose to buy a single story, a curated set of three stories that go together, or the entire series. The entire set of stories is also offered in the form of a digital book. The project must be funded before its November 27, 2012 deadline.

In addition to the core project, Moore is also releasing online supplements that give readers a sense of each character's story, online at www.laserlaceletters.com.

Laser Lace Letters shares a setting with the transmedia steampunk series Clockwork Watch. Moore and Clockwork Watch creator Ayeni collaborated to bring the two stories together. References to the events of Clockwork Watch appear in the series, and materials from Laser Lace Letters appear on Clockwork Watch's fictional news site (www.clockworkwatch.com) and in the new Clockwork Watch comic, Breakaway.

The project was prototyped at the Dallas Makerspace (www.dallasmakerspace.org), a hackerspace based in north Dallas where Moore is a longtime member. Moore is also collaborating with several artists, mostly from her native Texas, to provide striking visuals for the letter packets. Collaborating artists include: web comic creators John Kantz (www.searchfornewlifeforms.com) and Zack Turner (www.unlifecomic.com); Cartoon Network staff animator Heather Williamee; Fox Castillo, and Jolie Pagel.

About Clockwork Watch www.clockworkwatch.com

The steampunk transmedia experience Clockwork Watch began in 2012 with the release of its first comic, Clockwork Watch: The Arrival. The series, which takes place across comics, websites, live events, and film, is the story of how Queen Victoria entrusts the hopes and dreams of the nation to an Indian visionary, Chan Ranbir, Master Kineticist at Calcutta University - a man with dreams of a Clockwork World. The story charts the rise of anachronistic science in the Victorian age, and how Ranbir's own son sets out to destroy everything his father's lifelong ambition or legacy or his father's career. Clockwork Watch invites players to become part of the story by taking on a character and creating their own narratives within its story world. Its second comic, Breakaway, will be released this fall.
