Las Cerradicas tracksite (Berriasian, Galve, Spain); Growing evidence for quadrupedal dmithopods

Quadrupedal omithopod trackways are relatively acaree and have oniy been n*ported from a few Cretacm sites, (CasanÅ“quel et aL, 1968; Nor- man, 1980; Cume, 1983; Leonaidi, 1984; W e y , 1987; Pittman, 1989; Currie et al., 1991; Moratalla et al., 199Z; 1994; Bengoechea ct al., 1993). At Galve, mar Teruel, bur interesting trackways were discovered in 1992. Discoveries of dinosaur footprints have become relativdy coairnon in the Lower Cretaceous of Uve northwt'stern Iberian Range (Casanovas et al., 1989,1993; MocataUa ei al., 1988,1992,1994; Ben- @ea el al,, 1993; Pérez-Lment et aL, 1995) in La Rioja and neighboring ams (Fig. 1). They are typicdy found in continental sedimentary uniis hown in the regional literature as the Wealden facies. In the southeast of the Iberian-Range, in (he Aliaga basin, dinosaur footpruits are known in the Castellar Format'on, at Los Corrales del Pele- jh tracksite, near Calve [Casanovas et al., 1983- 84, Cuenca et al., 1993). Thenew ttacksite is locat- ed in the Galve wcea (ME SpaÅ̧ i Fig. 1) and, h contras! to most of the dinosaur tracksites de- s c n i h the continental udts (Wealden hries) of the Iberian Rango, the tracka are located in the upper part of the shallow marine sedimentary units o' the Villar del Arzobispo Fonnaticm.
