REPORT: A laptop installed with LoJack for Laptops was stolen from the victim’s car. While we were tracking and trying to pinpoint the name and location of the thief, some issues arose. The thief of this computer was clearly computer savvy and tried to ‘hide’ the laptop several times through hard drive and operating system changes. Because of our software and team of experts, we were able to distinguish and continue following the stolen computer. When the end-user was located by phone, he said he purchased the laptop from a local computer store. The sergeant in charge asked him to bring the computer into the police station the next day; however, the user instead went back to the computer store to try to return the machine.
Even with hard drive and operating systems changed our security software persists.
