Lighting In LandscapeOutdoor lighting is used to illuminate pedestrain , walkways,
roads and entry areas, It may also provide dramatic effect when it lights up Benches and Fountains.
The level of illumination varies with the extent of usage of the various external spaces.
High intensity light is required for highways and other heavily used areas.
Warm and coloured illumination is best suited for quiet areas along Minor residential and parking areas.

Lighting TechniquesSTEP LIGHTING- Typical fixtures- Spot/accent lights.
Step lighting brings deck to life at night and helps guests to navigate with specialized step and deck lighting.
Fixtures can be installed beneath benches as recessed lights in the riser of steps, and as surface lights on vertical posts
Uplighting
Typical Fixtures - Spot /Accent lights , well lights.
Uplighting is a dramatic way to highlight the beauty of statuary trees , specially large or flowering types.
By lighting trees from two or more directions , your target appears to be 3- dimensional and more life like.
Underwater LightingUnderwater lights can be used in outdoor or submersed conditions for dramatic pond and garden effects.
Illuminating your pond, garden or watercourse not only increase its attractiveness , it also ensure safety as it is easier to see in the dark.
Underwater pond lighting is available in different colors to allow for a more unique yard decoration.
Colored lenses that can be placed over your underwater lights to illuminate the pond with that color are available separately.

Lighting FixturesThere are many types of lighting fixtures which are used in landscape architecture. Some of them are mentioned below-
Solar Lights-Solar landscape lights make use of tiny photo voltalic cells (PV) or solar powered cells to charge the battery that is integrated into
the lighting fixtures
Fluorescent Light- A Light straight tube coated with phosphor containing low pressure mercury vapor that produces white light.
Halogen- High pressure incandescent lamp. Used for highlighting any object like tree in landscaping.
Neon- A low pressure gas contained within a glass tube ; the color emitted depends on the gas
Bollards in Landscaping
Bollards are clean and consistent outdoor decorations that help balance the character and theme of building exteriors with surrounding pathways and landscapes.
They are functional and decorative—providing clear barriers while enhancing outdoor visual quality.
Use bollards to complement artistic compositions in integrated urban and green spaces.
Sense of place: Bollards establish a meaningful sense of place along pathways and outdoor spaces around buildings, in parks and in other community spaces.
When used well, decorative site furnishings carry cultural building or landscape designs into surrounding areas, creating a greater presence and cohesion
Decorative bollards separate sidewalk gardens
Functional planningProper bollard installations contribute to safe, attractive and functional outdoor environments for the benefit of community residents and visitors..
Well-organized landscapes ensure minimal conflict among users and provide attractive designs to reinforce broader objectives for the surrounding neighborhood.
Solar lighting: Solar lighting bollards provide ideal enhancements for outdoor landscape designs. They ensure visibility along pathways and surrounding parking lots during dark and low-light conditions.
Where to install landscaping bollardsBollards can be used in any outdoor landscape:•Commercial/industrial offices and facilities•Multi-family residential buildings (apartments and townhomes)•College and university campuses•Public buildings•Parks, cemeteries and community pathways•Streets and parking lots
Gates In Landscaping
A gate or gateway is a point of entry to a space enclosed by walls, or a moderately sized opening in some sort of fence.
Gates may prevent or control the entry or exit of individuals, or they may be merely decorative
Side yard and front entry gates, sometimes referred to as pedestrian gates, allow people to access the backyard or entryway.
A pedestrian gate should be a minimum of 36 inches wide. Most pedestrian gates are single gates; however, if you prefer the look of a double gate this is also a possibility. A double pedestrian gate looks great for a front entry.
This type of gate should swing inwards and usher guests into your garden.

Wrought Iron Gates –Wrought iron is one of the most popular ornamental gate types. It provides a classic old-world feel that is unmatched.
Custom wrought-iron gates can be created with intricate designs and patterns.
Some gates are designed to look like trees, leaves or plants,
Wooden Gates –A wooden gate will provide a relaxed and welcoming entrance to any garden. Wooden gates can have a solid design if you are concerned with privacy, or an open, picket like style. The top of a wooden gate can be curved, scalloped or even lattice. A coat of paint or stain can transform a wooden gate into an artistic doorway into the landscape beyond.
Vinyl Gates –The best thing about a vinyl gate is that it requires very little maintenance. A vinyl gate will not rust or rot and will likely last much longer than wood or metal.
Vinyl gates typical come in light colors, white and beige being the most common.
With vinyl you'll be able to choose from a variety of styles such as a picket gate, a privacy gate or a lattice gate.
Signage In LandscapingSignage, refers to the design or use of signs and symbols to
communicate a message to a specific group, usually for the purpose of marketing or a kind of advocacy.
A signage also means signs collectively or being considered as a group.
Sign shape
The shape of a sign can help to convey its message. Shape can be brand- or design-based, or can be part of a set of signage conventions used to standardize sign meaning. Usage of particular shapes may vary by country and culture. Some common signage shape conventions are as follows:Rectangular signs are often used to portray general information to an audience.Circular signs often represent an instruction that must be followed, either mandatory or prohibitive.Triangular signs are often warning signs, used to convey danger or caution.

RAILINGS
Probably one of the most useful elements in the landscape, railing or fences not only provides a visual demarcation of property ownership, but it also performs a necessary function of both protection and prevention often required by the law.

WOOD VERSES VINYL
•Vinyl is nearly five times as strong as wood and thus it takes much more to bring down a vinyl fence than a wooden one. •The flexibility of vinyl makes it a good choice in places that witness extreme weather conditions such as strong winds and rain. •Wood fences are more likely to break and collapse in such weather.
