What is NetMagic?

Netmagic is Roycan’s most complete multimedia language laboratory , a pedagogic space to aid educational centres, especially those that need a classroom with the latest technology in order to provide high quality teaching, combined with practical and user-friendly equipment.

Netmagic is the ideal laboratory for language learning, as well as being extremely useful for many other disciplines. Basically, it comprises of a set of innovative tools that provide the students with highly interactive and motivating teaching.

NetMagic includes the first innovative technological development on the market which is able to transmit audio and video resources in real time through a computer network, offering high levels of communication and control in the classroom.

NetMagic is made up of: an accurate combination of hardware and software; a complete computer network and, furniture and infrastructure especially designed for educational centres. The whole assembly converts NetMagic into the most advanced technological solution on the market today.

The main objective of this laboratory is to provide ultra-modern technology and, at the same time, increased functionality and an eminently didactic and practical purpose, in order to facilitate learning, interaction and pedagogic innovation in the classroom.

This objective is achieved through the use of an advanced technological base, which any teacher will find easy to use no matter what level they teach, from very young children to adults (from nursery schools to professional educational establishments).

The NetMagic classroom was conceived as an integral turnkey solution. It includes the installation of the equipment, teacher training, and tools and supporting materials. The whole set up has been studied and validated by ROYCAN’s pedagogic and computer departments.

High functionality. The instructor will be provided with the latest technology, which is intuitive and easy to manage. There is no long learning process nor down time during daily use with the students.

Student interactivity and participation du-ring teaching activities. In other words, the students will be more involved thanks to their effective communication with the teacher, and the creation of working groups and pair work conversation practice.

This technology is divided into four systems: the Audiovisual Emission System, the Communicative System, the Control System and the Personalized and Management System.

These systems are administered from an easy-to-use, highly intuitive graphic interface. Also, through the interface, the teacher is able to select different classroom tools in a dynamic way, with just a few clicks on the icons, or by touching his/her tactile screen.

THE COMMUNICATION SYSTEMThe students have their say. Thanks to the Optimas® Communication System, the teacher can select any student at any moment, and allow him/her to be listened to by his / her classmates, participate in pair work conversations, and arrange up to 8 simultaneous groups, therefore all the participants will be able to accomplish cooperative activities among themselves. Communication is done orally, in a dynamic and direct way, without restrictions based on the physical distribution of the work sites, or the number of students in the classroom.

THE AUDIO VISUAL BROADCASTING SYSTEMThe optimization of multimedia resources. The audiovisual emission system allows the teacher to simultaneously send audio and image resources to several student groups through 10 broadcasting channels. This way, the students can carry out different tasks at the same time without interference. For practical demonstrations, or to clarify doubts, the system can simultaneously broadcast the teacher’s screen and voice, or that of any of the students, to the rest of the class in real time.

THE MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMIZATION SYSTEMA fully personalized classroom. To speed up classroom use by different teachers and student groups, the Management and Customization System allows the creation of profiles, and the maintenance of specific information, such as the students’ names, the classroom layout and other configurations. Thanks to this, there is no need to re-program the system or waste time preparing for the start of each session.

THE CONTROL SYSTEMEverything under control. Depending on the Optimas version, the teacher has different control and supervision functions to manage what is happening in the classroom. He/she has powerful tools to easily carry out tasks such as: viewing the students’ screens, listening to their conversations, or remotely taking over the students’ computers. These functionalities, combined with others such as asking for help, allow both the students and the teacher to accomplish tasks in a faster and more effective way.

Optimas® is the first technological deve-lopment on the market, that combines hardware and software, enabling the broadcasting of synchronised audio and image resources in real time by means of a unique computer network (European Patent), and the use of audiovisual resources, both high quality analogue and digital, without interference and delays.

Netmagic incorporates the latest Optimas and a special upper configuration including Global Master equipment, the Premium Module, Multiple Recording Module, often found as optional on other models classroom that also incorporate this technology.

DLL (Digital Language Lab)The Optimas® DLL digital recorder-player is integrated into the Optimas® interface. With Optimas® DLL the teacher can design highly motivating learning projects for the students, based on audio and video multimedia resources.

NetMagic offers a very efficient tool to allow individual practice in different subjects such as language learning, translation and interpretation, or phonetic practice.

The Optimas® DLL has all the functions of traditional audio active recorders, as well as offering new features for registering bookmarks, questions, commentaries and subtitles, together with original files, to make the most of the available material in the classroom.

ADDITIONAL MODULESCUSTOMIZE YOUR OWN LESSONS

LINUX CONFIGURATIONNetMagic computer equipment is normally produced and provided working under Windows. However, the equipment can be supplied to also run under Linux. Linux will provide you with a wide range of possibilities thanks to the vast amount of free resources and freely distributed didactic material which is available. With this configuration, you have additional interesting features that will complement the use of conventional commercial software.

EXAM MODULE AND DATA BASE

This offers lots of tools for designing and managing exam scores and other kinds of tests in the laboratory. We can take advantage of the classroom’s multimedia technology, using dynamic virtual exercises.

It has different templates for different tests types: tests, dictation, translation, free text, etc. an powerful cataloging assistant, management and search. It also incorporates useful automatic correction tools and performance statistics.

Netmagic includes a spacious console table in the teacher’s workstation, it has an accurate size and shape to contain perfectly all the devices and the equipment of the laboratory.

GLOBAL MASTERThis is the multimedia equipment that controls andmanages the majority of classroom functions, freeing up these tasks from the teacher’s computer.

In the same classroom we can install, indistinctly and simultaneously, computers with either Windows or Linux (optional settings). The Linux option will allow the centre to use the many free resources available on the internet. The Windows option will allow the centre to use commercially available educational software.

TEACHER’S PCThis has built in tools for creating didactic material, such as a video converter, audio and video editing software or a DVD-CD rewritable device.

DESKTOP VIDEO CAMERAThis is the ideal device for projecting documents, photocopies, images and 3-D objects from the teacher’s work site to every student’s site. It can be used for video conferencing and for digitizing captured images.

With high sensitivity dynamic microphone that allows clear and fluent communication, eliminating ambient noise. It has special pads for perfect sound insulation security and DIN connection avoiding damage due to sudden pulls on the cable.

TECHNICAL SERVICESTransport and installation. Roycan is committed to supplying the full laboratory, including the freight and installation expenses, this is why it guarantees the best conditions and results in any centre throughout Spain and abroad.

Guarantee. Besides official guarantees, as manufacturers we guarantee to supply spareparts over many years. This way, our clients will always have the peace of mind that, even with old versions, our staff will reply to any inquiry for assistance.

Updates and upgrades. Our labs are constantly updating and upgrading (modernizing), this is why we inform the centres of new developments. Moreover, we design all our classrooms under the modular principle; this facilitates future upgrades without involving a large investment.

Maintenance plan. Please ask us about our maintenance plans. We have low priced maintenance plans which allow you to keep your laboratory in perfect condition so you do not have to worry about anything.

TRAINING PLANNetMagic always includes a training plan for the teachers. Roycan’s teaching department, through its professional staff (teachers), gives courses and seminars helping to make the most of the system from the first day.

Basic training. This is carried out right after the classroom installation, to enable the tea-cher to start using the system from the first day without difficulties.

Methodological training for teachers. A complete training course taught by teachers from the Roycan teaching de-partment in the same classroom as the users.

Technical training. Specific technical training for the administrator of the classroom: management of the Global Master equipment, settings, network options, management of the system, etc.

There are also training plans adapted to each teacher, or to each kind of centre, depending on their requirements: basic training, practical and methodological instruction, managing courses, advanced user courses, etc.
