2 My student is not safe dropping off at Test. I have spoke with the Secretaries, School Resourceoffice, and Principal. Nothing is being done.... So why should I think you can deliver programswhen my child isn't safe when dropped off in the morning.

3/2/2018 4:57 PM

3 need more services for the above-average students 3/2/2018 1:58 PM

4 We have so many kids needing special education that their needs aren't being met. They needtheir own separate place to learn. High ability and life skills have their own special place, but thekids in the middle have nothing. Special education services are lacking and failing our students.

3/2/2018 9:19 AM

5 The programs listed above are the ones we hear our kids talking about the most. Their attention isheld in these classes because they get to push themselves beyond the everyday lesson plan anddo something of value other than look at a computer screen.

3/2/2018 8:39 AM

6 There is not nearly enough offerings for "tech" ed. We need to emphasis that A 4 year degree isnot necessary, but often addition training is required.

2/28/2018 12:14 PM

7 Hibberd's programming is a draw for people in the area. More creative programming like this wouldbe a huge benefit to RCS.

2/25/2018 8:07 AM

8 My daughter has not had homework assigned since 5th grade at Test. This makes them extremelyundisciplined and unprepared for high school level work.

2/21/2018 12:35 PM

9 This survey doesn’t ask questions about the general education of my student. I am not familiar witha lot of the areas on this survey because they are short term elective classes or services my childdoes not need.

2/21/2018 6:57 AM

10 I have three children that attend Hibberd Logos program. I hope to see this programming continuefor my kids and that they may stay with the cohort they have developed relationships with. Theteachers at Hibberd have really pushed my children as students and as human beings.

2/20/2018 11:26 AM

11 Could restructure to move grades 5/6 to one building and 7/8 to the other (Dennis and Test). Sincethese kids, grade 5-8, are already being bused to one of these 2 buildings, the kids that need to goto the opposite building could just switch buses at either Dennis or Test and then be transported. There could be a few identified buses the kids get on to take them across town. These seemsmore cost effective than having a centralized transportation center where ALL kids have to go toand ALL kids have to change buses. All kids, grade 5-8 are already going to those buildings soonly some of them would need to change buses. Also, once those grade levels are reconfigured, there may be room to move the High Ability/Logos programs into one or both of those buildings. Ifnecessary, grades 5/6 High Ability could stay in that building and grades 7/8 High ability could stayin that designated building. This would also allow the children to remain in contact with some oftheir social network and others in their grade level. This may reduce costs in terms of allowing theHigh Ability kids to participate in programming that already exists at Dennis and Test such asmusic, art, gym, etc. and not have to figure out how to provide these courses to the High Abilitystudents at a separate building. If elem. grades are reconfigured, the 3/4 high ability could likely gointo one of the Elem. buildings.

2/20/2018 10:41 AM

12 It is vital that RCS continue the Logos Program as a self contained program. It draws families tothe corporation and is an asset to the community. I am very impressed with the program.

2/20/2018 9:56 AM

13 Richmond Community Schools needs lots of improvement. 2/20/2018 9:43 AM

14 The Logos program has done an excellent job of preparing our children for both high school andcollege.

19 I love that my daughter in the Life Skills program has the opportunities that she does. I hope I don’tsee a change in what the program offers her when she changes schools to Hibberd next year.

2/16/2018 6:12 AM

20 High ability programs are lacking at Dennis & Test. Early College program seems to have manybenefits but the majority of parents I've spoken to, including myself, have no idea how children arechosen to participate. Also, if it's so beneficial, why so few students? I firmly believe the LOGOSprogram should be scrapped. Project based learning is completely outdated and is not beneficialonce you get to high school and then college. As a whole, Hibberd seems isolated from RCS ingeneral and it feels segregated. I've had personal experience there and chose to leave because Ifelt my children would not transition well once they got to high school. Put those great kids backinto the "general classrooms" and simply offer more honors and high ability courses. I think all ofthe students and intermediate schools would benefit!

2/15/2018 9:02 PM

21 I have been very happy to have the Logos program in a separate facility. I hope Hibberd can stayopen for the foreseeable future.

2/15/2018 7:09 PM

22 I am highly disappointed in the change in grading system that took place mid-year. Regardless ofthe program they are enrolled in, demanding a student to have all assignments turned in andcompleted to 100% by the end of the grading period and/or semester to pass the class isridiculous. Our child, who is a high ability student, used to love school, but now hates it and doesn'twant to go. These changes, especially made mid-year, has resulted in unnecessary anxiety andstress. Our child feels that everyone is being overly critical and is emotional distraught. This is inaddition to the emotional changes that many of the students are experiencing moving into puberty. It is my understanding that some parents have removed their children from the program - aprogram that was designed to challenge them, not expect perfection. If the high ability program atRCS is to be successful, as it was in the past, this system of grading must be addressed.

24 The Creative Arts at the intermediate level is abysmal. Every student should have art, music, andPE throughout the year all four years. These should not be elective. There may be choices withingeach discipline, but all children should have a class in art, music, and PE at each grade level. Theyshould be spread throughout the school year, not in six-week chunks.

2/15/2018 9:49 AM

25 Since it takes a village to raise a child, especially the middle grades, I appreciate all of thepartnerships that offer support to our students. Given the state's pathways concept, thepartnerships with business, industry, and commerce should probably be expanded.

30 Both of my children currently attend the Hibberd Logos program. This program has been verybeneficial for both of them, and our family.

2/13/2018 5:41 PM

31 The logos program is an excellent program pushing our students to realize their potential. As aprofessional that is willing to relocate, I can say that I have chosen to stay in Richmond because ofthis program and what it offers my children.

36 The strength of RCS is the diversity of programs in grades 5-12. The EC and Logo's programs atHibberd along with AP and Career Programs at the HS level separate RCS from the rest of thecounty and Seton. You take that away RCS is not a good option. The athletic programs at RHS arenot an attraction anymore.

2/12/2018 8:53 PM

37 Cruisers are non existent. Don't say there's an early college cohort at Dennis if nothing is beingdone. Very frustrating that he's put in this program that means nothing.

2/12/2018 8:28 PM

38 I believe the Logos program has a good basis in pushing students in excellerated classes and amore non-traditional learning style, but has changed a lot in the past 5 years. I feel some of thepurpose behind the program has been lost. Most students coming out of Logos excel and arestrong academically and with personal relationships, but the overall structure of the program mayneed some re-evaluation.

2/12/2018 3:37 PM

39 There are not enough extra curricular activities for 5th grade. 2/12/2018 12:19 PM

40 Our high ability program is one of the only ones in the county. There are many students that cometo Logos due to the county schools not offering high ability programs that are as good as whatRichmond currently has.

2/12/2018 8:24 AM

41 The Special Education department at the middle school level needs to have more of a focus onthe whole child. Students are not being serviced and IEP minutes are not being followed correctly.

45 The Special Education TORs are terrible in the Middle School and have horrible communication. The bare minimum is done to meet State requirements. Not enough is done to make children thatneed these services more successful. There is a huge lack of support not only in numbers ofparaprofessional but in the way things are handled. Parents are being dismissed too easily andnot listened too. If taken to a higher level, the dismissal of concern coming from the higher upAdministration is not taken seriously is very bothersome. These children are looked at as anumber and not as people. As a parent this is an area that is need of the most improvement, fromthe top down.

2 We need a special education classroom. Just like life skills and high ability students have. 3/2/2018 9:19 AM

3 What about a real-life course, such as you might find in the freshman year of college with topicssuch as balancing a checkbook, understanding credit, etc.

3/2/2018 8:39 AM

4 I think that RCS as a whole should be more supportive of its faculty. There is always discussionabout how RCS can better service its students, families, and community, and most of thesesuggestions fall on the shoulders of teachers. It would be nice to feel valued and supported foronce. RCS can't make improvements without teachers, and yet their opinions don't seem to matterto the school board or administration.

7 More rigorous math and language arts. My daughter is an honor student and national honorsociety member however she is rarely required to read, write essays or do complex math. It’salarming. Teachers are incredibly unqualified or their methods are not appropriate for higherlearning.

11 It is imperative that students go outside! Students go outside for 10 minutes a day and that is if it isnot below freezing. Living in Richmond, IN, the majority of the school year may be below freezing. Please consider creative outdoor options for students. Scientifically proven to increase productivityand creativity!

2/16/2018 1:47 PM

12 The selection process for inclusion at Hibberd needs to be modified. A simple, score based, testselection process gives no consideration to a student who works hard and produces the desiredresult in the classroom. Recommendations for inclusion should be considered. The faculty knowswho will produce.

6 If I didn't live in the city of Richmond, I wouldn't chose RCS over other schools in the county. It'steachers against parents, administration again their employees and teachers. No one is interestedin working together, but they love point fingers and pass the blame for not meeting standards orfailing to make improvements. I'm sure this carries over into the classroom. The atmosphere istoxic. Wouldn't recommend sending kids here.
