The extension will increase the number of rooms, and also ex- tend existing communal areas, with the creation of other new areas for the benefit of our residents and their families. We will be adding 14 new bedrooms all with en-suite, but will lose 4 of the existing rooms due to internal reconfiguration, and so will end up with 10 extra rooms, bringing our total registrations up to 34. The extension will include a further dining area, a new treat- ment room, a consulting room, a hairdressing salon and 2 new bath- rooms. There will also be a new reminiscent room so we can focus more on reminiscence therapy, a very important part of dementia care. Our already spacious lounge area will be the first area to be extended, followed by creation of the new rooms. The work will be managed by Bedmar Construction from Wok- ingham, with whom we have worked before, and find extremely effi- cient and reliable. They will not doubt minimise any inconveniences in- herent in such work, that is planned for completion by 1 st October. The owners, directors, management and staff will ensure that the high level of care one comes to expect from Langley Haven will not be affected in anyway whilst the work is being undertaken. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all residents, their families and visiting professionals in anticipation of their patience and understand- ing during the extension work, and we all look forward to creating a bigger, and even better Langley Haven.

Message from the owners:

Extension works at ‘’Langley Haven’’

The owners, directors and management of Langley Haven are

pleased to announce that after a lot of concerted effort, which included

initial planning rejection, and having to overcome 32 objections, we

have been granted planning permission for an extension to Langley

Haven from revised plans we developed in conjunction with Slough

planners.

The extension will increase the number of rooms, and also ex-

tend existing communal areas, with the creation of other new areas for

the benefit of our residents and their families. We will be adding 14

new bedrooms all with en-suite, but will lose 4 of the existing rooms

due to internal reconfiguration, and so will end up with 10 extra

rooms, bringing our total registrations up to 34.

The extension will include a further dining area, a new treat-

ment room, a consulting room, a hairdressing salon and 2 new bath-

rooms. There will also be a new reminiscent room so we can focus more

on reminiscence therapy, a very important part of dementia care.

Our already spacious lounge area will be the first area to be extended,

followed by creation of the new rooms.

The work will be managed by Bedmar Construction from Wok-

ingham, with whom we have worked before, and find extremely effi-

cient and reliable. They will not doubt minimise any inconveniences in-

herent in such work, that is planned for completion by 1st October.

The owners, directors, management and staff will ensure that

the high level of care one comes to expect from Langley Haven will not

be affected in anyway whilst the work is being undertaken. We would

like to take the opportunity to thank all residents, their families and

visiting professionals in anticipation of their patience and understand-

ing during the extension work, and we all look forward to creating a

bigger, and even better Langley Haven.

Partnerships at ‘’Langley Haven’’

’’It's amazing what we can accomplish when we're in it

together!'' (Unknown author)

BRIDGE BETWEEN GENERATIONS

Good things will always appear from common effort, so we put this in

practice at ''Langley Haven'' and initiated BRIDGE BETWEEN

GENERATIONS, a partnership developed in collaboration with Ryvers

Primary School from Slough, throughout the school year 2015-2016.

This partnership’s purpose is to create a special bond, a ''bridge''

between the pupils and the residents, with the purpose to cultivate the

respect and the appreciation of the children for the elderly, but also to bring

smiles on the residents faces, by offering them the chance to work with the

children to accomplish different projects.

The pupils sang for the residents... and with them, at their first visit,

on ''The International Day of Older Persons'' (October 2015)

TEENAGERS AT ''LANGLEY HAVEN''

Starting in November, our home become more involved in the commu-

nity's life and began the project TEENAGERS AT ''LANGLEY HAVEN'' along

with The National Citizen Service (NCS).

The project is meant to help the teenagers to build skills for work and life

and to give them the opportunity to learn from the seniors life experience.

An important aspect of the partnership is that the teenagers will have to

come with ideas for activities which can take place at ''Langley Haven'' and to

put them in practice with support from our residents.

SEWA DAY

''Sewa'' represents the concept of doing acts of kindness without ex-

pecting any reward...For the third year, the team of volunteers came to spend

their time with our residents, on SEWA DAY. Their presence brought a lot of

joy in the home.

On CHRISTMAS EVE, Father Christmas was awaited by everyone singing

Carols and playing games.

The NEW YEAR'S EVE was celebrated by realising the ''New Year's Resolu-

tion Tree'' , having a good laugh and of course, by singing the traditional

''Auld Lang Syne'' .

Because at ''Langley Haven'' we don't need a special occasion to

be happy, FUNNY DAYS IN THE WORLD gave us a perfect op-

portunity to be amused…

On the EAT A RED APPLE DAY the residents discussed about the

importance and benefits of eating this fruit, realised apple trees during a

crafts workshop and.. apple lollies !

all the details of daily life.'' (William Morris)

The CHAT CLUB and the READING STIMULATION are good

opportunities to socialise and share personal views about different topics.
