PET DOG SHOW & SUMMER FETE There will be a Companion (Pet) Dog Show (under Kennel Club Rules) and Summer Fete at Boxted Village Hall and King George Playing Field on Saturday 14 June (12 mid-day to 4 pm). The event will be in aid of Church funds. Offers of help with organising and/or supplying the various stalls and with arranging the refreshments will be most gratefully received by Jos Carter (Tel 272755). One aspect that needs early preparation is the plant stall and so gardeners all are asked if this springtime they could kindly set aside whatever they think would make a suitable contribution. The event will require publicity and volunteers to take posters to surrounding villages and to local tourist information offices will be called for in due course. BOXTED REMEMBERS WORLD WAR ONE To mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War and its effect on the Boxted Community, a special Commemoration Event will be held in St Peter’s Church on Friday 1 August at 7.30 pm. The evening will attempt to capture, through words and music, what life was like in the Great War, for the young men of Boxted who went off to fight and for the Home Front. Further details of the event and the accompanying special edition Commemoration Booklet will be given out in the coming months. Meanwhile, please save the date! Youth Worker For a few years very generous donations enabled St Mary’s and St Peter’s to host a volunteer Christian youth worker, selected and appointed by the “Time for God” (TfG) charity (see http:// timeforgod.org), whose patron is the Archbishop of York. The Churches now have an arrange- ment with St Michael’s, Myland, to share an overseas youth worker.
