RAISED PLANTER AND SEATING
Public spaces alive with people, pulsing with life and everyday encounters was our vision for Terrain, a picnic setting and matching seat designed inhouse by botton + gardiner to reflect the vivacity of our local urban environment and its inhabitants. People ignore design that ignores people. We not only wanted to create a picnic setting that looked amazing but for the seat we wanted to work with the criteria set out by Australian Standards AS1428.2 to allow usage by a wider demographic of people of all-abilities often overlooked in urban furniture.
Made locally in Sydney, the attention to detail is integral to the design. The trapezoid shapes of the solid hardwood battens repeated in the flare of the seat leg and the angle of the armrest. The elegant radius of the arm tip reappears where the battens meet the frame. Stunning select grade hardwood bestows Terrain with an aura of sophistication. Meanwhile the two-part, interlocking frame, steel outrigger and thickness of the battens creates the structural strength and stability to cope with the unique durability demands of public spaces. Available in a selection of hardwoods and standard powdercoat colours, or specify your own custom finishes to perfectly co-ordinate to your project.
