The Drama Club Presents Talent Night What’s your talent? Is it comedy, musical, fun with skits, magic, juggling, or something else? The Drama Club is interested in any

kind of talent you might have. You do not have to be a professional. This event will be held Saturday, November 25th, which gives you plenty of time for planning and practicing your favorite act. Please call Beth Boggs at 407-271-0364 or sign up in the book at the Carriage House. The cut off date is October 20th. Come share your talent with the Lamplighter Village residents.

Coming Soon! On November 4th, Lamplighter Activities will be sponsoring the Annual Lamplighter Village Arts and Crafts Show. Residents will have first option on tables, but you will need to get your reservations for tables in early. We will then open to other crafters. This is an ARTS and CRAFTS EVENT ONLY. The cost is $10.00 per table. We will be needing baked goods donations for our bake sale and prize donations for our raffle table. National Beer Lovers Day The United States derives its rich brewing history from beer-loving German immigrants during the mid-1800s. Some of those immigrants families’ names are as familiar today as they were a hundred years ago. While some names have faded into the past, smaller batch brewers continue to experiment with old and new recipes. The crafting of beer carries rich traditions, often requiring years of training and experience in the trade. Depending on the brewery, the path to brewmaster may take years to develop the skill and expertise necessary to produce a quality beer every time. One certain requirement is a love of beer and the craft. Stop by the pool bar for your beer on 9/7 from 12:00— 3:00 pm.

The Lamplighter Travel Club How do we get such great deals? We follow travel like my Dad followed the stock market: based on current events, seasons, new products, introductory specials, etc. We love to travel, but hate to spend too much money on it!! We are not a commercial enterprise so we do not have to make a profit from working with our Lamplighter residents and friends. And we do NOT like to travel alone, so it is ideal for us to host you on trips you would be unable to afford or do alone. We host and match up singles. We were travel agents and agency owners for over 40 years, with experience as tour operators, lived and worked on cruise ships, traveled all 50 states, operated our own travel agent school, accredited as Master Cruise Counselor, and studied over 20 countries. Our education backgrounds are archaeology, art, history and military study. We are passionate to learn and enjoy other peoples, lands, and cultures. Come travel with us!! Next meeting 9/8/17 at 7:00 pm. Your neighbors, Al & Kathy Hoffman

Ballroom Dancing at Lamplighter Village What is ballroom dancing?

Formal social dancing, popular as a recreation and also as a competitive activity. The ballroom dance repertoire includes dances developed from old European folk dances such as the waltz, Latin American dances such as the tango, rumba, and cha-cha, and dances of 20th-century origin such as the foxtrot and quickstep. Michael Cassidy has been providing dance classes, at Lamplighter Village, for over 3 years. He currently works out of Beachside Dance Club, in Indian Harbor Beach. Michael trained and graduated from Florida’s Ballroom Dance Teachers Academy. If you have ever paid for professional dance classes than you know they can be expensive. Cal-Am will now provide these lessons at no cost to the residents starting in September. Come out and see if ballroom dancing is for you every Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the Carriage House. We really want to see this activity grow.

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. – Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.. But then I think, since I’m going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I’d been drinking. I’m going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don’t accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye–they need water. I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I’ve been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I’m going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I’ll be looking for the remote, but I won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I’ll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the car isn’t washed, the bills aren’t paid, there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter, the flowers don’t have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can’t find the remote, I can’t find my glasses, and I don’t remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all the damn day, and I’m really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I’ll try to get some help for it, but first I’ll check my e-mail….
