Can Parador engineered wood fl ooring be installed on underfl oor heating systems?

Yes. Thanks to its good heat transfer resistance, Parador engineered wood can be laid both as a fl oating or completely glued installation on hot water or modern electric underfl oor heating systems. (max. surface temperature 28° C).

Can Parador engineered wood fl ooring be installed on old plastic and linoleum fl oors?

Yes, provided that the fl oor is even enough. To compensate for slight uneven patches and to reduce ambient and impact noise, a suitable underlay from the Parador accessories range should be laid.

In which rooms can engineered wood fl ooring be laid?

Basically in all types of living areas, but not in permanently damp rooms (e.g. shower, sauna). When installing in bathrooms and spa areas, engineered wood must not be used in areas where water splashes.

To what extent can engineered wood be subject to punctiform loads?

Different types of wood vary in terms of hardness, so there is no single answer to the question. Wood from coniferous trees is generally softer than wood from deciduous trees. The so-called Brinell hardness gives information about a wood’s load bearing capacity. The higher the value, the higher the loading capacity of the wood. You can fi nd details about the Brinell hardness levels of the individual timbers on our website.

Why should engineered wood fl ooring be laid from several packs at the same time?

As a natural product, the attributes of engineered wood always differ. For a balanced appearance, it is recommended that planks are mixed from several packs before being laid.

What distance to walls (expansion joint) should be maintained?

The distance to walls or the expansion joint should be at least 10 – 15 mm on each side, more on larger areas.

What do you have to consider when laying engineered wood from room to room?

The movement/expansion joints must be taken into account and covered with appropriate transition profi les.

What characterises oiled engineered wood fl oors compared to lacquered ones?

Lacquered engineered wood protects the wood better against mechanical stress and is easy to care for. Oiled engineered wood looks more natural, but the wood is directly exposed to mechanical stress. With the proper care, the natural quality is retained and the fl oor can be repaired or renovated at the necessary parts.

Can Parador solid wood fl ooring be installed on underfl oor heating systems?

Yes. The surface temperature must not exceed 28 ° C.

In which rooms can solid wood fl oors be laid?

Basically in all types of living areas, but not in permanently damp rooms (e.g. shower, sauna). When installingin bathrooms and spa areas, solid wood fl ooring must not be used in areas where water splashes.

What distance to walls (expansion joint) should be maintained?

The distance to walls or the expansion joint should be at least 5 mm per metre wide.

What type of substructure is best when screwing planks?

Solid wood planks are best laid on OSB boards. The benefi ts of this are that they cover the whole area and can be screwed at any place. Classic joists are also suitable, however.

Why is screwing the planks better than using nails?

In case of corrections during the installation, screwed planks can be undone without causing damage.

Are gaps, cupping, broken knots, small open spots and slight warping normal?

Yes. Climate fl uctuations result in certain changes in the wood. These are completely normal and underline its natural character.

Why should solid wood fl ooring be laid from several packs at the same time?

As a natural product, solid wood planks always have different characteristics. For a balanced appearance, it is recommended that planks are mixed from several packs before being laid.

Why is a factory surface treatment better than one done on site?

A factory surface treatment is more even, free of dust particles, better integrated with the wood and makes cleaning and care easier.

What should be particularly borne in mind for retaining the fl oor’s value and looking after it?

The humidity in the room must be adequately high (35 - 65%). When cleaning, only wipe with a lightly damp cloth. Standing water must be immediately removed. Chairs and other furniture should be fi tted with felt pads and in entrance areas, door mats are recommended to catch dirt. Apart from that the fl oor needs regular treatment with suitable cleaning products.
