Information from Neighbourhood Watch

• Unknown MALE knocked on doors of property on SOUTH CROXTED ROAD SE21 stating he was from DYNO-ROD and was working in the area due to sewage problems. He was pushy and requesting money for work that they would be carrying out. Residents believe he is a bogus caller targeting the elderly. He was not successful on this occasion. MALE is described as the following.White MALE, mid 30s in age, short dark hair and of average height. He is described as wearing workmen clothing but nothing distinctive and no company logo or ID.

• On the 03/02/13 at 1700 hours we had a knock at the door by a young white male staying that he was just moving into BOURNVALE ROAD and his benefits were not due until later in the week and he had no money. He was asking for some cash to buy some food. Description WHITE MALE late 20s London accent brown hair, dirty face with blue and white horizontal stripped hoody.

• The HYDE FARM NHW coordinators members have a series of vans who are patrolling our streets over last few weeks or months they drive the streets in a box formation driving generally slowly looking in at people’s front gardens we believe they are looking for metal scrap.

PREVENTING CAR CRIME IN LAMBETH Always close the windows, lock the doors and activate any security devices when leaving your car unattended, even if only for a few minutes.

Never leave cash, credit cards, mobile phones or other valuables in the car.

• Mark or etch your property with your postcode, house or flat number or the first three letters of your house name.

1. Register items with a serial number at: www.immobilise.com

1. Do not leave your car keys or ID documents near doors, letterboxes or windows.

2. Always check who’s at the door and don’t open it if you feel anxious.

2. Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if you are only going out for a few minutes.

3. Keep your valuables out of sight.

3. Leave some lights on if it will be dark before you get home.

4. Install a visible burglar alarm and possible CCTV.

4. Always keep sheds and/or outbuildings locked and ensure tools are put away.

5. In multi occupancy premises ensure doors are locked at all times

Theft from Motor Vehicle – Princes and Oval Wards

Inference: Theft from Motor Vehicles offences continue in Princes ward and have crossed now onto Oval ward.

Context:

There have been 8 actual TFMV offences and 1 attempt in the last two weeks.

3 took place in Week 1 and 6 in Week 2

Overnight (3), Daytime (3), Evening (2), Night (1)

6 offences - windows smashed.

2 offences – Peugeot doors prised open.

1 offence – vehicle left insecure.

Apart from the Peugeots, the other offences didn't target one particular type of vehicle.

There have been no arrests.

Extra Information:Peugeots door are being bent.

LarkhallLarkhall

Larkhall Burglary

Inference: Burglaries continue to occur across Larkhall ward.

Context:

There have been 9 burglaries across Larkhall ward in the last two weeks. There were 3 in Week 1 and 6 in Week 2.

There were a further 2 offences overnight.

All offences occurred during the week Thu (4), Wed (2), Mon (1) Thu (1) and Fri (1). The majority of offences (7) took place during the day. 1 was in the evening and 1 was unknown.

5 offences were houses and 4 were flats.

There were 4 front doors forced, and 1 rear door. 2 were front windows forced. 1 garage door was forced and 1 venue was insecure.

Property stolen was the usual electrical items (laptops, mobiles etc) or jewellery.

Extra Information:Larkhall area has come up in the past 4 weeks.

ClaphamClapham

Clapham Park RoadInference: Street Crime offences have re emerged around Clapham Park Road. Lone black males targeting lone white victims for their smart phones.

Key Findings: 8 offences in the last two weeks (compared with 6 in the previous two weeks)•5 snatches and 3 robberies•3 in week 1 and 5 in week 2.Victims: Predominately lone white victims of both sexes aged between 23 and 32 years old.

Offenders: Limited descriptions, as offences are usually over quickly, however suspects are predominately described as lone black males, 16-25 years old.In three cases, a suspect targeted victims at bus stops before running off into the William Bonney Estate.

Location: Mainly Clapham High Street and Clapham Park Road. Three offences took place at a bus stop

Time: Peak day was Sunday with 4 of 8 offences (50%). 6 of 8 took place in the weekend with majority of offences occurring between the hours of 2115 and 0320 hours.

Res Burglary/ Motor vehicle – Clapham Park RoadInference: Burglaries have continued around the William Bonney estate and motor vehicle offences have emerged near Clapham High Street

Key Findings: Burglary: – 4 offences in the last two weeks.1 in week 1 and 3 in week 2.3 further offences overnight at an address in Kenwyn road (3 flats in one building)

Daytime weekday offences (no weekend offences in the last two weeks)Multi occupancy/flats targeted. Communal door slipped and then force or tool used to smash open front doors.Property: Laptops, cash, cameras stolen.

Motor Vehicle:10 offences in the last two weeks (compared with 2 in the previous two weeks) 5 in week 1 and 5 in week 2.8 Theft from, 2 Theft ofTheft of: Mercedes and Transit van – Mercedes recovered at Rigge PlaceTheft from: Victim: No common vehicle or property stolen. Various MOs used.Offender: No suspects seen in the last two weeks.Location: Repeat streets - St Luke Avenue and Kenwyn Road.Time: Predominately evening/overnight offending.

Herne HillHerne Hill

Re-Emerging Problem – Personal Robbery in Herne Hill

Inference: Increase in daytime, weekend robbery offences in Herne Hill – this could be a re-emergence of the series from September.

Context: 8 Personal Robbery offences in the last two weeks.

Victims – Predominantly lone male victims passing through the area (not linked to NTE)

Offender– Black males aged between 16 – 30yrs.

See attached slide for potential offenders.

Suspects were generally on bikes, had their faces covered in 2 offences Location – In the vicinity of Milkwood Road, Herne Hill Ward – there was a Robbery series in this location back in September 2012.

Time – Almost all offences occurred from Friday to Sunday (half on Sunday). All fairly early in the day between 1100 – 1700hrs.

Extra Information:This is an Neighbourhood Watch Area.

Repeat problem from a year ago.

Streatham Streatham

Emerging Problem – Motor Vehicle Crime

Inference: Continuation of Thefts from Motor Vehicle in Streatham area.

Key Findings:16 MV offences – 9 in week 1, 7 in week 2Streatham Wells Ward – 13St Leonard's Ward – 3

Theft From MV – 14 offences; Criminal Damage – 2 offences

Days and Times:• Tues-Sat. Mostly evenings and overnight, but some

daytime.Vehicles• 5 x Ford Galaxy.• Only 2 German cars this fortnight (red circles). MOs:• Mostly smashed windows (10). 2 where German vehicle

was entered by means unknown.

Suspects: 2 suspects seen – 1 distracted a delivery driver whilst other entered vehicle and stole mobile phone. Both suspects white. The one who spoke was about 30, 508, short hair, with a foreign accent.
