How do lakes, rivers and streams work?

Over time Rivers can form big Valleys. It starts off as a normal river or stream, and around the area is flat land. When the river flows it picks up big stones or small things and over time it cuts into the land and makes a big dip in the ground. It can make big tall banks. Then it becomes a big valley.
