Kia ora whanau

Welcome to the last week of term, the kura has been bustling with activity for the past few weeks.

Garden Kaitiaki In the Tui class tamariki have been engaged in plant growth experiments, to better understand what helps plants grow. As the plants have grown, we have gained insight into how the different sections of a plant develop along with what conditions support plant growth. We hope to use this information to better protect and support our native flora and fauna around the kura and the community.

Cross country Two weeks ago, the tamariki took part in a cross-country at Wairau valley school, prior to this we had been training hard and setting personal goals. Solander ski races Last week, some of our ski enthusiasts took part in the Solander ski races in which our teams competed against other schools and teams. This was a great opportunity to show off all that they have learnt throughout the term. It was great to see the tamariki taking part, especially those who had their first ever ski experience at the start of the term.

Once again, many thanks to Jo and Sam for helping us to get prepared for the races.

Leadership awards Every second Friday we hold assemblies during which we celebrate the achievements of our tamariki. We also award students that strive to actively uphold the school values of P.R.I.D.E. Last week’s awards were given to Teilo, Max, Cadeyrn, Shaun, Anika, Caitlyn, Nihalii and Bonnie.

Proposed Amendments to the Speed Limits Bylaw

Tasman District Council is currently reviewing some speed limits within its Speed Limit Bylaw and is undertaking public consultation as required by the Land Transport Rule Setting of Speed Limits 2017. We welcome your feedback.

The focus of the proposed changes is:

• addressing inconsistencies in the current speed

limits;

• responding to growth and development which is

changing the nature and use of some roads (for

example rural residential developments); and

• reducing the severity of crashes on some roads

which have a poor safety record and where the

current speed limit is not safe or appropriate.

More information, including the complete list of

proposed changes to speed limits will be

available at www.tasman.govt.nz/feedback from

Monday 23 September 2019.

The last day to provide your feedback is

Friday 1 November 2019.
