Things to do at the Lake

History and Museums If it is history you are looking for in a vacation, you can find at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Camden County Museum in Linn creek is in what was once the Linn Creek School. Each classroom has been transformed into a specific theme, ranging from archives to a weaving room, where woven rugs can actually be purchased. Other exhibits include antique home furnishings, banking equipment, and a community service room. I loved the history and culture you could find by exploring this venue. You can really feel how people once lived and can’t help but wonder how they lived with so little.

Water ActivitiesLets talk about hitting the water. At the Lake of the Ozarks you can rent a boat for the day or take a boat tour. Other fun activities on the water include tubing, water skiing, para-sailing, wake boarding, or even just renting a paddle boat. If you are up for a little more excitement there are several locations to rent jet skis. If you want to cool down a bit you can go for a swim. Make sure you explore a lot of what the Lake of the Ozarks has to offer on the water. Just a day trip on a boat can be relaxing for everyone in the family. I highly recommend trying something like tubing or wake boarding if you enjoy a little more excitement.

Hiking & OutdoorIf you are looking to hit the hiking trails, Ha Ha Tonka State Park has 12 trails and Lake of the Ozarks State Park has 11. The Lake of the Ozarks is a great place to get out and explore nature. Trails vary from paved walkways to rocky trails, providing a many different ways for hikers to explore. If you are an avid hiker I suggest the Ha Ha Tonka State Park trails. You still feel the burn in your calves several weeks later. The Ha Ha Tonka trails are not for the faint of heart. Make sure to take plenty of water and a camera because you are going to want to take pictures of how gorgeous it is out there.

Land & AdventureSo maybe museums and hiking aren’t for you, and you want to get out and find some excitement, the Lake of the Ozarks has plenty of activities for you. From parasailing to exploring caves, the Lake of the Ozarks has plenty to do including two water parks, multiple arcades, and plenty of go carts. You can enjoy the slides at Big Surf water park, or race the kids through the go carts tracks at Gran Rally Go Carts.

Book in AdvanceEach member of the family can find what they are looking for at the Lake of the Ozarks. This makes it one of the state of Missouri’s top travel destinations. The summer months book up fast so you will want to make sure to book your lodging arrangements in advance.
