School Board Election May 8th The local school board election is May 8th. Check the LHCA calendar for upcoming informational meetings and www.newvalleyview.com for information about how the election affects the proposal for a new elementary school in our neighborhood.

Rent the LHCA Clubhouse, Cheap! Having a party? Consider renting the LHCA clubhouse for Birthday, Anniversary, or Company parties! Kids parties cost only $60, and adult parties are $100, or $150 for 35 people or more. Low security deposit of $100. Congratulations to Eagle Scout William Payne As noted in the Austin American Statesman, “William Lanier Payne, 16, son of Rosemary and Martin Payne of Austin, constructed a steel, 28-slot canoe and kayak rack for Lake Hills Community Park. He was helped by volunteers from his troop and community. He is a junior at Westlake High School. Martin and Payne are members of Troop 4, chartered by Austin Ridge Bible Church.” The kayak rack has been a huge success for LHCA members as it provides them someplace to store their kayaks and canoes near the boat ramp for just $5/month. Last year the LHCA earned $1,800 through these rentals and the LHCA Board voted to contribute $850, in honor of Payne, to Cub Scout Pack 79’s purchase of a trailer. Payne had come up through Pack 79, to his current Troop 4. Thank you and Congratulations to William Payne!

Big Thank You’s to Easter Egg Hunt Volunteers! This year’s LHCA Easter Egg Hunt was great fun and another big success since its reintroduction to the park a couple of years ago! Swim Season is Here! The LHCA opening day for members will be Saturday, May 29. The pool hours are 12-8, including Memorial Day. The pool will be closed the following week and will re-open for the summer season Saturday, June 5 through at least Labor Day. The pool is closed on Mondays for maintenance.The Splashers will begin after school practice on Tuesday, May 4th. The

complete schedule and all home meets are posted on the web site. Kids Swim Lessons at Reduced Prices! The LHCA contracts with Lifeguard4hire to provide a comprehensive Swimming and Water Safety program that provides an increased emphasis in the areas of drowning prevention and water safety and emphasizes an inclusive approach to teaching swimming and water safety. This program teaches individuals to swim and how to be safer in, on, and around water. Each program is instructed by a certified Water Safety Instructor and is designed specifically for our facility for individuals ages 3 to 10. This program is open to all residents of the community in good standing with LHCA. Eight lessons, 40-minute classes, Tuesday – Friday. 4-1 student-instructor ratio, 3 students minimum. Cost per session: $65 per student + one-time registration fee $10 per student. Family discount: $5 less per additional registration. Multi-session discount: $5 less per additional session.
