Area I - Youbou / Meade Creek

Population in the Cowichan Lake area is 6,000 plus.

Cowichan Lake - 500 plus feet above sea level; second largest lake on

Vancouver Island; 21 mi / 34 km long; over 500 feet deep in some spots;

1½ miles at its widest.

The Cowichan River Provincial Parkand Campground is located 15 km from town on the Cowichan River.

Home of the “Stin-qua” a giant snake like creature that swims and lives in

the depths of the lake.“Mesachie Man” the half man half

gorilla that roams andlives in the caves

of Mesachie Mountain.
