The Annual Meeting of the Delegates and Board of Directors Elections is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:00 pm at the Lake Clubhouse building. This meeting will be preceded by an informal Social Hour at 6:00 pm in the Lake Clubhouse. This allows Candidates, Delegates, Board Members, and Staff to mingle and get to know one another. The culmination of the election process occurs following the Social Hour on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:00 pm with the Annual Meeting of the Lake Delegates and Board of Directors Election. Two Board positions are up for election in 2019. A quorum of District Delegates representing twenty-five percent (25%) of the entire Lake membership is required to conduct the election. Once quorum is met, the District Delegates will then cast votes to elect Board positions. DISTRICT DELEGATES NEEDED! Would you like to serve as an LMVA District Delegate? Please contact the Association office at (949) 770-1313, ext. 232 for more information about how to become a District Delegate.

It is time once again to elect your District Delegate to Lake Mission Viejo Association. The list of delegates adjacent to this article represents the current delegates for all districts in LMVA. There are two types of delegate elections held annually. Sub Associations elect their own delegates during their annual Board of Director elections. LMVA assists Non-Sub Association districts with the process explained below. For Non-Sub Associations, the first step in the process is the District Delegate Non-Sub Association Election, to be held on Tuesday, October 1st at 2:00 pm in the LMVA Administrative Building. This annual election is held to elect District Delegates in all Non-Sub Association Delegate Districts. A quorum of twenty-five percent (25%) of ballots must be received by each District. For Non Sub Associations that failed to achieve quorum on the first ballot on October 1, 2019, a second ballot count will be held on Tuesday, October 8th at 2:00 pm in the LMVA Administration Building. The twenty-five percent (25%) quorum requirement is also required for this second ballot count.

Annual Delegate and Board Election

Delegates Needed! Help Elect a Delegate! Was there a ballot included in your assessment bill this past June? Ballots are mailed to facilitate the LMVA election of Non-Sub District Delegates which takes place in October. If you do not plan to attend the election proceedings in person, complete the ballot and mail it back to LMVA. Ballots are available at the Lake office if you cannot locate your copy. Please select one of the following options when completing your ballot: 1. Write-in Candidate. 2. Abstain / Ballot to be counted to quorum purposes only..Some members do not receive ballots. LMVA members living in the “Sub associations” do not receive ballots. These Sub Associations each elect their LMVA District Delegate at their Board of Directors meetings as required by the Sub Association’s governing documents. For more information about elections for your District Delegate, contact your homeowner’s association Board of Directors.

Comments from Lake Mission Viejo Association’s Members make it clear: They see the lake as a place for family fun and enjoyable activities that make living in Mission Viejo more fun than can be found in neighboring communities. Keeping the polish on this recreational gem is one of the most important and time-consuming tasks of the Association’s Board of Directors and Staff.

Here’s one example of how heavy these tasks can be: This year, the Association added 6 million

pounds of sand – that’s 3,000 tons – to the lake’s beaches to make sure they would provide the beach experience Members have come to expect. That’s not something that can be done by dropping by the local building supply; it requires considerable planning and coordination to avoid any risk of the newly replenished beaches not meeting the Association’s high standards. With thousands of Members visiting the lakeside beaches on a summer weekend, there are plenty of inspectors checking out the quality of the job!

Lakeside events, each requiring hundreds of hours of planning and coordination, fill the calendar. This year, one new event, Oktoberfest, will be added to already crowded Association entertainment schedule of six concerts – including the stellar fireworks show after the final concert on Labor Day weekend – the eight Summer nights of Movies in the

Moonlight, the Sunday with the Symphony concert, the Jazz Festival & Taste of the Lake event with its jazz lineup and eight participating restaurants, Marine Appreciation Day, the Orange County Triathlon, the Junior Lifeguard Program with its 300 lifesavers-in-training, Halloween’s Lake Eeerie and December’s Snow Day, complete with Santa’s arrival – which, as you can

imagine, takes considerable coordination between our staff and the elves on Santa’s staff.

“From Marine Appreciation Day in April to the time the snow melts on Snow Day, we will have had more than 300,000 visitors to our beaches and lakeside facilities for these events and more,” said General Manager Kevin Frabotta. “Everyone on the Board and Staff gets involved and works hard to make sure each visitor has a memorable and pleasant experience. That requires planning far in advance and, as the events unfold, vigilant attention to every detail.”

The Association is always looking for new ways to entertain its members. A few years ago, stand-up elliptical paddleboards were added to the lakeside fleet of rowboats, pontoon party boats, sailboats, water trikes, pedalboats, kayaks, paddleboards and fishing pontoons. Planning is already well underway for this year’s new offering, Oktoberfest, on September 28th. Stay tuned for more details. Besides the time the Board and staff spend planning and carrying out the annual calendar of events, there’s an ongoing flow of work going on by our Maintenance Team to make sure the docks, park, beaches, boat fleet, Club House, snack bar and other facilities are all in good working order.

So, if binge-watching the latest Amazon or Netflix offering is getting old, click on the Association’s Event Calendar and take your pick of fun-filled events to light up your social life. You can be assured that behind the scenes, people are working hard to make sure you have a good time.
