DUNCAN MADE SURELADYSMITH PUBLIC SCHOOL

IS A HEAD LINE!

By thinking of others Duncan made us all more aware of what others are going through and their plights in life. What an amazing thought. Duncan decided he’d like to raise some funds for the fire victims and organised for the Ladysmith fire truck to come and visit our school. The two firemen who came, Arch and Mr Kennedy gave the students a deeper understanding of how important the fire brigades are as well as how important it is to be aware of fire dangers. Thank you to everyone who supported this event including Mrs Chapman who cooked our sausages, Cathy who made spinach slice and coleslaw and all the families who supported with donations. Funds are going to fire victims. If anyone would like to donate please do so at Ladysmith Pubic School.

SCHOOL SPECTACULAR

NSW’S SUSTAINABLE SCHOOLS GRANTS

COOLER SCHOOLS’ PROGRAM

Congratulations to Zoe W for her contributions to the Public Schools’ School Spectacular.

On the 19th, Zoe W went to School Spectacular to dance with the dancers from the Primary Ensemble. She danced at 1.00pm Friday and 1.00pm Saturday at the matinee performance, and Friday and Saturday night. Four lucky students from our School were selected by the wish upon a star foundation to experience these spectacular performances.

On the 22nd, we travelled to Berry and stayed at the sport and recreation centre for the night. The next day we travelled down to Sydney to see School Spectacular at Quodos Bank Arena. School Spectacular was amazing, and we watched the light up with over 5,500 dancers.Tayissa

School Spectacular was great although I believe they could’ve had better songs. The trip on the way up was very boring because I had no one to talk to. We went to Berry and at the sport and recreation centre we were split into groups and we went on inflatable boogie boards we did a series of challenges and had a whole heap of fun, overall the experience was amazing. I met a whole heap of great people.Zoe M

When we arrived at the Motel in Sydney I found out there was a pool, which wasgigantic. The next day we went to the rehearsal at the netball stadium where we rehearsed the wizard of OZ segment. There were so many kids there. The next day we went to practice at the Quodos Bank Arena where we found out there was a TV in our dressing room. The first performance was on Friday it was all right but Saturdays was definitely better, I might be even on TV. It starts on TV on the 7th of December at 7.00 on prime 7 if anyone is interested to watch.Zoe W

We got to school spectacular and we got to our seats and saw the show starters. My favourite segment was by far the wizard of OZ and my favourite song in the segment was the Wicked Witch of the West when she is casting a spell to keep Dorothy and her friends out. Then that night we got back to the sport and recreation centre and enjoyed a game of trivia.Emily

My experience was amazing we went on inflatable biscuits and did fun challenges on the inflatable biscuits. We went to School Spectacular, which was certainly spectacular. My over all experience was amazing and I had so much fun. Samantha

We have moved into the Design Phase of the Cooler Classrooms Program. This means the contractors have been out to work out a work plan for our new heating/ cooling system which will go into the primary room. The program will remove the unflued gas heaters and the swampy air conditioner and replace them with two split systems. This should make it more comfortable for everyone in this learning area.

We have put in an application for an outdoor STEM learning hub which will incorporate many aspects of STEM as well as environmental aspects of learning. If we are successful we will have an outdoor learning area which incorporates a solar panel, wind turbine and a water tank.

Fingers crossed, you’ll find out early next year if we have been successful.

MUSIC AT OUR SCHOOL

This is a report from a teacher at Wagga Wagga Public School who cared for our girls while they were away.

“I was one of the teachers who on the weekend that had the pleasure of accompanying your 4 amazing students to Berry and Sydney. I wanted to let you know that Zoe, Tayissa, Sam and Emily displayed exemplary behaviour the whole weekend, what wonderful representatives for your school and community!”

Riverina Conservatorium of Music information and programs - Ladysmith Public School.

We can have music lessons through the Riverina Conservatorium as per the attached information.

These lessons can run during class times according to the timetable Jenny will set up once parents indicate and enrol in lessons with the attached enrolment forms.

Jenny suggests students in K/1/2 may be interested in piano, ukulele, violin or recorder and senior students may look at the brass or string instruments. She says if there are two students who would like to learn the same instrument they can have a ½ hour group lesson. She is happy to accommodate any instruments that the student is interested in. They can hire out some instruments.

If you are interested in any of these options for your child/ children please let Ms Sturman know this week so she can give Jenny an indication of numbers etc. Then you will need to contact Jenny and complete the attached enrolment form so she can organise the tutors and a timetable.

Thank you for all your generosity and we appreciate your help, thank you for all the donations, which brought our market stall to life. A big thankyou to Fleur for helping us with our float and organisation and thank you for your advice.Thank you to all the parents who donated plants, jars and paddlepop sticks. We can’t wait to put it all into action. ThankyouSTEM group

LEARNING WITH MS STURMAN

We have researched and answered this question “How can we care for a local natural environment?” Students in K/1/2 have presented their projects to their parents. Here is what the audience had to say……

Parents asked what their next step would be, eg Would they go to the council? They were amazed how the students could put music on their power points and make such amazing videos.Well done K/1/2.
