Athletics Carnival
Our Annual Athletics Carnival is to be held on Wednesday 18 March 2020
at Vi Barnett Field (Little Athletics field) in Raymond Terrace. All students
from Years 2-6 will be participating on the day. For these students school
will be at Vi Barnett Oval for the day. Students will travel by bus, departing
school at 9.15am and returning at approximately 2.45pm. Cost is $5.00 per
student. Permission note and money will need to be returned to the office
by Friday 13 March.
Harmony Day & National Day of Action Against Bully-ing
Grahamstown Public School are proud to support Harmony Day and the
National Day of Action Against Bullying by holding a morning of celebra-
tions at school on Friday 20 March. During the morning students will take
part in a variety of whole school and class-based activities that promote
diversity, inclusion, kindness, forgiveness and acceptance. Students are
invited to wear orange or other warm colours to celebrate Harmony Day. A
Multicultural Lunch is available for special order, notes have gone home
and orders need to be in by Monday 13 March from the Canteen. Students
can create an A4 poster depicting the theme of ‘Celebrate our differences
and create a colourful world’ at home. Entries are due back to school by 20
March to be eligible for great prizes.
Sacramental Program
All parents of Catholic Children - This is to advise that the Sacramental
Program for those children who have received the Sacrament of Reconcili-
ation will recommence with a meeting in St Brigids Catholic Church on
Wednesday 25 March at 7pm. This program will prepare the children to
receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on 20 May and First Holy Commun-
ion in June. This is only for children who have already completed the Sac-
rament of Reconciliation. Parents who would like their child to participate
are invited to attend this meeting. Enquiries please phone the parish office
on 4987 1888.
Stage 2 Outdoor Experience Camp Morisset
Our Stage 2 camp has been booked for Term 3, Monday 31 August –
Wednesday 2 September. This will be a two-night camp. We will depart
school at approximately 8:30am on the morning of Monday 31 August and
enjoy three full days of activities, returning by 3pm, Wednesday 2 Septem-
ber, 2020.
We will be unable to finalise the exact cost for camp until we have a better
idea of numbers. At this stage, the approximate cost will be $300 per stu-
dent which includes two nights’ accommodation, all meals and access to a
range of activities for three days with instructors and seat belted coach
travel. If you would like your child to attend this camp in Term 3, please
complete the expression of interest form to secure your child’s position,
return the slip along with a non-refundable $50 deposit to the front office by
3pm on Monday 6 April, 2020. Further information will be sent home early
in Term 3.
