2 Feed Sample Labs

All feed ingredient samples are distributed to one of these feed sample labs. Our lab techs analyze our grain samples for Micron size and send complete feed and ingredientsamplestobefurtheranalyzedbyothercertifiedlaboratories.

CooperativeFarmersElevator’sFeedSafetyandQualityAssuranceDepartmentismadeupofacontinuousworkingteamofemployees.ItisledbytheFeedSafetyDirectorwhohastwoQualityAssuranceLabTechsandaVFD/LiquidFeedManager.TheHACCPTeamplaysabigroleinthedecisionmakingprocessforourQualityManagementSystemProgram.TheHACCPTeam(madeupofarepresentativefromeachfeedmill)meetsthroughouttheyearmakingkeydecisionsonhowwecanenhanceourCompany’sprocedures and values for our customers. This department has strong support from theCEO,VPofFeed,andFeedOperationsManageralongwithothermanagementstaff.CFEiscommittedtobeingengagedinourcustomer’srequests,values,andservicetobringforththebestqualityproductpossibletothem.Havingourfeedandingredientsanalyzedcontinuouslyallowsustoverifythequalityanddegreeforwhichwewanttosupplytothepeoplewevaluethemost,ourcustomers.

WhatisHACCP?ItstandsforHazardAnalysisCriticalControlPoints.What does this mean? Falling under a HACCP Program states that CFE is evaluatingriskmanagementandsafetymeasureswithallfeedelements.This is to include but not limited to the health and safety of our end users alongwithourownemployees.EveryyeartheCFEfeedmillsareauditedbya3rdparty(SGS).Thisensuresourcontinueddedicationtoourcustomers.HA

WeconductyearlyFeedSafetyandQualityAssurancetrainingtoallourfeedemployees.Wecurrentlyhaveforty-fiveSOPsthatarecoveredduringthesetrainingsessions.TheCGMPs(SOP513)standsasthebackboneforhowCFEconductsandoperatesitsFeedSafetyandQualityAssuranceDepartment.ThisSOPprovidesthefoundationforthefeedagricultural industry. Our day to day goal is to have each feed and grain employeeunderstandtheirroleintheimplementationoftheFDAandFSMARegulations.

ThroughourApprovedSupplier/ShipperProgram,weverifywhoourincomingoroutgoingvendorsareandhavethemstatetheywillnothaulanyprohibitedproductwhileundercontractwithCFE.Thismitigatesthepotentialriskofasupplier/shipperintroducingaprohibitedproductintoourfacilities.BelowisthelistofprohibitedproductsnotallowedinCFEfacilities:

CFEworkshandinhandwithPrestoXtoensurecontrollabilityofunwantedpestsinourfacilities.WeutilizeanIntegratedPestControlProgram.Throughthisourultimategoalistominimizepestactivity.Wehavecontinuousemployeechecks,monthlyinspectionsbytheFeedSafetyDirector,andmonthlyinspectionsbyPrestoXtoprovideourcustomerswiththemostrodentfreelocationspossible.

AsofJune20,2016,CFEhasthreelocations(Hartley,Ocheyedan,&Paullina)thatarenowlabeledasRactopamineFreeFeedMills.DuetotheeverincreasingdemandofourcustomerswhoselltheirlivestocktoaRactopamineFreemarket,weasacompany,haveadaptedto the industry and marketed three of our feed mills to guarantee their livestockwillbeRactopamineFree.Thisproductwillnotbelocatedinfeedmillsorutilizedwarehouses.ThefeeddeliveryvehiclesutilizedatthethreedesignatedRactopaminelocationswillonlyhaulfromthesesitesandwillnotbeusedatanyotherfeedmill.Thisistoensurethequalityofthecustomer’sendproduct.Ifyou’rewantingyourlivestocktobeRactopamineFree,CFEhasapolicyinplacethatwillhaveyousignacontractacknowledgingyourintentionstodoso. ThosecustomersthatwishtostilluseRactopamine(Paylean)maydosoatanyofourfourotherfeedmills(George,RockValley,Alvord,andHudson).

TheFDAhasnowmandatedthateachfeedindustrycompanymusthaveaPCQI(PreventativeControlQualifiedIndividual)persononstaff.Thisindividual shall complete the training put out by the FDA. Our Feed Safety DirectorisaPCQIandwillbecomeaLeadInstructor,thereforeofferingtoourcustomersachancetobecomePCQIthemselvesiftheyareinterested.
