LABORATORY SERVICES
A Message from the CEO of EnvironeX Group
Last July, it is with great pride that we made the acquisition of S.M. Analytical Laboratories, a transaction which gives birth to EnvironeX Group whose mission is to improve quality of life and to preserve the environment. EnvironeX Group wishes to become the reference in terms of laboratory service, by emphasizing on innovation, accuracy and respect in order to offer its clients, employees and partners services that meet the industry’s highest standards.
Since the establishment of Environex Laboratories in 2005, I have worked relentlessly to achieve two goals: to raise a company which promotes a public image of performance, prosperity and excellence and that is, to its employees’ eyes, solid, stimulating and attractive. I consider to have brought it to this destination so that it can make a crucial step forward.
Keeping in mind what motivated me a decade ago, it is with the same determination that I will go forward in the same direction and bring together this grand team of more than 250 specialists, technicians, managers and professionals who will propel EnvironeX Group, in Quebec as a whole and elsewhere in the Canadian market.
EnvironeX Group will be able to provide its private, commercial, industrial and institutional clients offers the most diversified range of chemical and microbiological analysis there is in the environmental, agribusiness, health and pharmaceutical fields.
Such are the new prospects, both wide ranging and stimulating, that EnvironeX Group is contemplating and this corporate brochure presents the services and expertise we can provide you with, so you too can benefit from our success.
Thank you for your kind interest and trust.
Sincerely,
Marc HamiltonMicrobiologist, RMCCMChief Executing Officer

Wastewater
We are able to meet your sampling, analysis and treatment of wastewater needs. Our professionals can guide you to meet the regulations in:
> Wastewater, in compliance with municipal regulations and resolution R2008-47 of Montreal Metropolitan Community (C.M.M).
> Melt water and groundwater, as required by the Regulations on the scene of snow disposal.
> Analysis of waters as specified by the Reduce Industrial Waste program. (Example: pulp and paper and mining).
Soil, waste & contaminated groundwater
> Mud (municipal & other), compost and waste material fertilizer analysis.
> Analysis of the recovery of non-hazardous industrial waste.
> Waste analysis according to Regulations respecting land filling and incineration of residual materials (REIMR) and Hazardous Materials Regulations (LDR).
> Soil and contaminated groundwater analysis following the Protection Policy for rehabilitation of contaminated land and the regulations under the Bill 72 an Act amending the Act on the quality of the environment for the protection and rehabilitation of land (2002, c.11).
Iron Ochre
We determine the iron ochre profile in water as follows:> We use the ASTM D932-85 international method to count
and identify the iron bacteria.> We use the ISO 17025 colorimetric method to determine
levels of ferrous iron (Fe 2+) and total iron. The pH is determined using a pH meter with a daily calibration program.
> Referring to the APCHQ table, we record the blind drain’s potential for clogging in the analysis report.
Asbestos/ Vermiculite
The best way to limit the risk of exposure to amphibolic
asbestos is to avoid disturbing the vermiculite insulation
in any way whatsoever. If the insulation is contained and is
absent from the ambient air, the risk is minimal.
If you are worried by the possibility that that your house or
business contains vermiculite-based insulation or another
source of asbestos fibers, do not hesitate to contact us. Our
team will collect a sample that will be analyzed by a laboratory
that is accredited for the identification of asbestos fibers.
Vermiculite is a mineral similar to mica that is used
worldwide. It is lightweight and has good insulating and
fire-retardant properties. Bulk vermiculite insulation can be
brown, grey and golden in color and looks like pebbles from
2 to 10 millimeters in diameter.
We use the IRSST 244-2 polarized light microscopy and colour
dispersion method of analysis. Our asbestos department
participates in the «PAT» program, is certified proficient by
the AIHA and is recommended by the IRSST.

For the quality of air, we conduct regular reviews for the
presence of mold, yeast and bacteria. The main areas
assessed are industrial, commercial, institutional and
residential, in order to:
> Detect mold problems after water damage or presence of excessive moisture.
> Make a diagnosis of a possible health risk to the occupants.
> Manage decontamination.
The expertise includes:
> Detailed inspection of the premises.
> Air and water samples (if needed).
> Dust, surface (Pap) and building materials sampling.
> Results table including counts, proportions of each type of mold and identifying the type and need for the species.
> If necessary, expertise in yeast, bacteria and other contaminants (asbestos, radon)
> Full report, including interpretation of results and recommendations.
Detection and enumeration of LegionellaLegionellosis is an infectious acute respiratory disease ranging from a mild infection to fatal pneumonia due to inhalation of fine water droplets contaminated with Legionella.
Where do we find Legionella:
> Evaporative condenser
> Domestic Hot Water
> Spa (Whirlpool)
> Cooling tower water
Method: We use plating on a gelled area based on the American CDC method. We confirm the pneumophila serotype species using commercial latex.
Also offered:
> Chemical analysis of corrosion and scaling evidence and other factors, such as zinc and aluminum are elements that promote the development of Legionella.
> Analysis of ventilation ducts using RODAC, a medium specially designed for flat surfaces.
> Identification of contaminants (biological, chemical, microbiological) on building materials, different products or any other surface.
> Our services can be completed with the development of a quote for decontamination.

Nutritional labelingEnvironeX Group laboratories offer personalized service to
meet the requirements of nutritional labeling. Chemists,
microbiologists, graduates in science and food technology
and technicians work together to offer a fast, personalized
and comprehensive service. In addition to conducting
the analysis, we are able to prepare a Nutritional Facts
table that meets the requirements of the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency (CFIA).
In compiling the nutritional values of all the dishes of a restaurant menu, a database for calculating the nutritional value of foods is available. The use of a database reduces the analysis cost. The laboratories specialists will help you target the settings, the dishes or foods that require laboratory analysis, which is combined with the database used to obtain the most accurate results possible.

Allergen and toxin : Canadian StandardsEnvironeX Group was the first laboratorie recognized by
the Canadian Standards for Allergen Detection Council.
We offer the following detections:
Failure to disclose these ingredients or their derivatives in the ingredients of a product can have serious consequences on the health of the population at risk. The ELISA technology (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) that we use provides a sensitive, recognized, validated and fast method. It also enables the verification of species such as:
> Pork> Beef> Poultry
We also offer toxin detection services. For example, the enterotoxin of Staphylococcus aureus and aflatoxin are considered natural toxins that can cause health problems.
Aflatoxin is produced by various molds, including Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus when favorable conditions of temperature and humidity allow them to grow.
Aware of changes in market demands and technological developments, our laboratories offer a wide range of tests for allergen and toxin components detection to ensure the quality sought by consumers.
