About Edith Piaf
Born into a life of squalor, Edith Piaf was abandoned by her mother and was raised in a cheap Normandy brothel. As a child, she became blind, but miraculously recovered a few years later. Her first big break came thanks to the cabaret owner Louis Leplée, wa black dress, which later became her signature apparel. Her only child died of meningitis at the age of two.
