DedicationMy life story is dedicated to my Junior English teacher,
Mrs. Laxton. She̓s the one who influenced me into looking

Red Carpet Entry The crowd outside was cheering in excitement as if they
were a pack of hyenas that found a dead zebra. It was my time
to shine, and after hours and hours of pain, screaming and
waiting, I was ready to make my way across the smooth red
carpet. I walked out the door and took my first step on the red
carpet. It was the first time anyone has ever seen me before; and
yet, everyone was filled with happiness the moment they laid
eyes on me. The date was July 5th, 2009, the day I was born and eyes on me. The date was July 5th, 2009, the day I was born and
entered this world of confusion, riches, fortune, poorness, life,
death, violence and peace.

Wilfred? Wilfred Who? Which One? Unfortunately, I have to suffer living with my name for the
rest of my life. Wilfred Malinay Bayudan Jr. is my full name and I
have no idea what any part of it means. Well, besides the “Jr.”
part, that obviously represents the word “Junior” which is de-
fined as denoting the younger of two who have the same name
in a family, especially a son as distinct from his father. Interest-
ingly enough, my parents and the rest of my family don̓t even
call me Wilfred. Instead, they̓ve been calling me Jay-R for my
entire life, while my friends and teachers from school call me
Wilfred. Why couldn̓t my parents avoid the confusion by simply
naming me Jay-R or something in the first place? Weirdoes.

La Familia A few moments after I was born, I was fortunate enough to
get the opportunity to meet my new family members. First on
the list of people to meet was my mom, Rose. Sure, you could
say that we technically met nine months before I was actually
born, but it was really the first time we introduced ourselves to
each other. Second on the list of people to meet was my sister,
Wendi. She was really short when we met, and she still is. In
fact, she teaches seventh graders and her students are taller fact, she teaches seventh graders and her students are taller
than her. And the last on the list of people to meet was my dad,
Wilfred. No, I wasn̓t meeting myself. I̓m talking about Wilfred
Sr., my loving father who helped my mother raise me to be the
person I am today.

Life In The Hood Neighborhood that is. I guess I̓m one of the few people who
have actually lived in the same house for their entire life. It̓s
amazing though; even though I̓ve lived in the same neighbor-
hood for almost seventeen years, I don̓t even know some of my
neighbors. Actually, I think I only know the names of three or
four of my neighbors. When I was younger though, I had a pretty
good friend that came over frequently. He was the grandson of
the lady, who lives across the street, whom I must say makes the lady, who lives across the street, whom I must say makes
some really good mochi! I remember the times when we would
go outside and pretend to be pokemon trainers. Ah, the good
ole days.

Republica Filipina When I was little, my parents took me along on a trip to the
Philippines. Almost my entire family came with us on this par-
ticular trip. Our large group went to the areas the older people
in my family grew up in and gave away stuff to our relatives
there. We even threw parties and treated everyone to meals
they don̓t usually get the opportunity to have. The things that
we could care less about and even throw away here are things
that people there would be happy to have. It̓s incredible to see that people there would be happy to have. It̓s incredible to see
how they practically fight over wooden pencils and used clothes.
It was like wild animals fighting over a wounded prey. Going to
the Philippines is definitely a life changing experience and
makes you be thankful for what you have. Unfortunately, I was
too young to remember any of this.

Elementary Horrors
The first time I knew that school was going to be a pain was
the first time I heard the first school bell ring. That evil ringing
sound instantly makes me shiver in fear. Kids were scared of
monsters in the closet while I was scared of monsters in the
classroom also known as teachers. I always used to think of
teachers as big, ugly, mean creatures whose sole purpose was
to ruin your lives. But of course, I eventually grew out of this
stage after a few years and finally realized that it was only Dr. stage after a few years and finally realized that it was only Dr.
Brummel who had these gruesome features.

Misunderstood Sometimes, people just overreact. And a great example of an adult overreacting was when
a teacher tried to get me in trouble last year. It was the last class of the day, actually, it wasn̓t
even class anymore. It was more like after school considering the fact that it was three minutes
past two and everyone else from other classes were already leaving. Security, VP̓s, and even Dr.
Brummel himself didn̓t seem to care as they were outside watching everyone leave. A friend and
I saw what was going on and decided to leave as well, expecting everyone else to follow. The
next day comes and we see our names on the board for detention for supposedly leaving class
“early.” Early? Excuse me; we technically left class late thanks to her blindness, horrible hearing “early.” Early? Excuse me; we technically left class late thanks to her blindness, horrible hearing
and lack of awareness. Anyways, my friend went ahead and defended our case. It didn̓t work.
Angry about the situation, he told the teacher that he wasn̓t going to stay in for detention. In
response, she said that she would give him a referral if he didn̓t. I didn̓t want a referral, so I
just sat in my seat. Coincidently, it was the day report cards got passed out, and she said that
once she gives us our report cards, we could leave for recess. She called my name, so I went up,
got my report card, and sat back down. Unexpectedly, in a sassy voice, she tells me that I got my
report card already and that I could leave. Despite the fact that I followed her clear orders, a report card already and that I could leave. Despite the fact that I followed her clear orders, a
security guard picks me up during the next period and brings me to the vice principal. We
explained what happened, and he believed us. That̓ll probably be the only time I̓ll ever win a
case against a teacher again.

Evil Doctor There once lived an old grumpy man who no one liked. He
had a bad childhood so he decided to get revenge by taking it
out on innocent high school students of a small town called
Mililani. He planned his entire evil plot; everything from what he
would wear and what he would use for transportation. He
trained a four-wheeled golf cart to be his personal pet that he
could ride around campus. After years of planning, he moved
forward with his plan to ruin the lives of these high school teenforward with his plan to ruin the lives of these high school teen-
agers. He took away their end of the year assembly because of a
bomb threat they didn̓t make. He even added a pointless advi-
sory class to the curriculum to try and bore the students to
death. True story – for the most part.
12
Changing Lanes Finally, my parents trust me enough to go behind the wheel.
Learning how to drive is like learning how to ride a bike. It isn̓t
too hard to learn, and once you get used to it, it̓s a piece of
cake. The only hard part about learning how to drive is putting
up with the squeamish noises your parents make when they
think you̓re going to hit something even though you̓re actually
quite far from it. Or putting up with them yelling at you to press
the breaks even though you̓re already pressing the brakes. I rethe breaks even though you̓re already pressing the brakes. I re-
member when I was driving with my parents and there was a
split in the road. Left and right were my options. I quickly asked
which turn to make, and they both gave me different answers.
What a pain.

Tokyo Drift Even though you might see a lot of nice import tuner cars in
movies that supposedly take place in Tokyo, there really aren̓t
that many nice cars at all there. I went to Japan during a spring
break, hoping to see some nice cars. But unfortunately, that
didn̓t really happen. At most, I only saw a few modified cars
and a few cars that I hoped to see which aren̓t available in the
United States. Actually, almost all of the cars were like Scion
xB̓s. In other words, they were all narrow and shaped like xB̓s. In other words, they were all narrow and shaped like
boxes. But that̓s probably because their roads there aren̓t as
wide as our roads. Japan was still amazing though, and the
Cherry Blossoms were definitely an eye opener.
