Getting thereAccess is extremely easy making this a good weekend destination. Veysonnaz is just 1 hour 45 minutes from Geneva and it is motorway all the way until the last 15 minutes’ drive up from Sion. SwissAir will also be running flights from London to Sion Airport during February next year.

Resort InformationLa Tzoumaz is part of the huge Verbier Ski area and has a range of skiing to suit all abilities. There are over 410km of prepared ski pistes and some of the most extensive off-piste in Europe for more adventurous skiers and snowboarders.

The village is at 1500m with dramatic views over the stunning Rhone Valley. There is a cosy hotel and a choice of restaurants and bars where you can relax after a long days skiing. Anyone needing to stock up on equipment can pay a visit to the equipment shops in the village.

La Tzoumaz is only one ski lift away from Verbier, so you can take the new télécabine out of La Tzoumaz up to 2350m and ski down into the centre of Verbier. If the weather is poor you can enjoy a good lunch in Verbier and look around the shops. In the summer the road over this Col is open so you can drive over to Verbier in twenty minutes.

Restaurant: Le PistardThe best bakery in La Tzoumaz, this is a charming and low key place to grab a croissant in the mornings, and a post skiing drink and a crepe in the afternoons.

With friendly service, a fantastic position right at the bottom of the slopes and excellent food, whatever you might be looking for, this is a perfect place to stop in La Tzoumaz

Activities: Tour du Mont Fort

The Tour du Mont Fort connects La Tzoumaz, Verbier and Nendaz together, and comes in two difficulty levels. The easier trail is fine for the general public and families with children over twelve looking for a stunning trip.

The harder trail is for pro-riders who are willing to go full cross-country, climbing up steeps and using muscle power.

WinterLa Tzoumaz is a part of ‘Les 4 Vallées’, the largest linked ski area in Switzerland with over 410km of piste and more than 90 lifts and railways linking the resorts of Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, and Les Collons. The resort is something of an expert’s paradise, although beginner and intermediate skiers are also well catered for.

Verbier has some of the best, most extensive and varied off-piste in the world, while the Mont-Fort Glacier, the highest point in the resort at 3330m, has a challenging black piste from the summit. From the top, there are fantastic views all the way to the Matterhorn, Grand Combin and Mont Blanc. There are also testing runs down from the summit of Mont Gelé at 3023m.

Verbier’s Swatch Snowpark at 2842m is the venue for Big Air competitions each season, and has jumps and rails for beginner to pro level riders. Even if you’re only there to watch it is still a good place to hang out, with the music and BBQ area adding to the ambience.

SummerLa Tzoumaz is situated on the Bisse du Saxon, a part of a 19th Century irrigation system that offers 100 km of gently inclined paths suitable for walking and mountain biking, making this a fantastic choice for hikers and bikers alike.

There are also opportunities for more challenging tours in the high mountains for experienced climbers. La Tzoumaz itself has a tennis court and a heated indoor swimming pool in the village, and there is good fishing, paragliding and climbing for the more adventurous.

In the summer the Col is open so you can drive over to Verbier directly in just over 20 minutes, while down in the valley there are plenty of family and cultural attractions including Lake Geneva, La Grande Dixence dam, the Medieval town of Sion, an Aqua Park, Thermal Baths and underground salt mines.

Whether you explore the area, head over to Verbier for a taste of luxury or head out into the mountains either on foot or by bike, this is a fantastic place to spend a summer.
