Our faith formation classes have begun but it is not too late to sign-up your children. It is one of the promises parents and godparents make at baptism to be guides and teachers in the faith. If you know a friend, neighbor or rel-ative whose child should be learning more about the faith, please: say a prayer, gather your courage and talk to them with gentleness and love.

Creating a Culture of Vocations: Many of the families who have taken home the Vocation Cross have shared their joy of praying together and sharing small graces with each other. If you haven’t signed up yet…we are doing it for at least 48 more weeks…so please take time and sign up to-day. (Continued on page 5...)

Hablando de vocaciones, el próximo domingo es el "Domingo del Sacerdocio" donde estaremos orando por los sacerdotes, y especialmente por los padres en parroquias. El Serra Club proporcionará tarjetas de oración con los nombres de los padres en ellas. Oren por todos los sacerdotes ... no solo la próxima semana sino todas las se-manas.

Por último, en la segunda semana de Un Padre y Una Madre Que Oran, oramos por el don de la fe en nuestros hijos y en todos nosotros. Speaking of vocations, next Sunday is “Priesthood Sunday” where we will be praying for priests, and especially parish priests. The Serra Club will be providing prayer cards with the names of your parish priests on them. Please pray for all priests…not just next week but every week.

Lastly in week two of A Parent Who Prays, we pray for the gift of faith in our children and in all of us. Please note, if you did not receive the book you will find helpful mate-rials on our parish website and Facebook pages. There will be short videos and reflec-tions offered to help us in the journey of prayer.

Faith: Throughout the Bible the word faith is prevalent. What is faith? It is not a feeling but rather it is a knowing deeply of someone. The only way we can have faith in God is talk with him, listen to him and to be with him. Faith, in the Catholic sense, is a reasonable and generous response to knowing we are loved by something greater.

Bringing the Intention into your family/relationships: How do we show our faith in God? Family prayer with the inclusion of special intentions help us to bring God into all aspects of our life. As we pray for the gift of faith in our children and in our lives, praying for others expands how we know faith in God.

Discussion starter: Share a story of when your faith was tested… Learn about the co-patroness of our Diocese St. Clare and her gift of faith. Brainstorm about how faith can help you be a better person…

Our parish September potluck was a success. Members of our community saw fellow parishioners for the first time in years.

So, once again calling all seniors, people who don’t like to drive at night and anyone who is looking for a St Lucy Social Group, join us on October 3rd at 12:25 in the P.A.C. for Pizza and Bingo, once again following the Altar Society meeting. If you love to play Bingo for the chance to pick up some stellar white elephant prizes instead of winning large cash jackpots, we are where it’s at.
