Since 1969 the Los Angeles LGBT Center (“Center”) has cared for, championed, and celebrated LGBT individuals and families in Los Angeles and beyond. Today the Center's more than 600 employees provide services for more LGBT people than any other organization in the world, offering programs, services, and global advocacy that span four broad categories: Health, Social Services and Housing, Culture and Education, Leadership and Advocacy.

Despite our size, scope, and determination to meet the growing demand for our services, we remain a lean, fiscally disciplined organization, earning a four-star Charity Navigator rating for six consecutive years. We are an unstoppable force in the fight against bigotry and the struggle to build a better world, a world in which LGBT people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society.

Mission

The Center is building a world where LGBT people thrive as healthy, equal, and complete members of society. We value:

• Respect. We provide a workplace and service environment where individuality is seen as strength and all people are treated with fairness and dignity.

• Excellence. We dedicate ourselves to the highest quality in all our programs and services, and seek employees, volunteers, and supporters who have a passion for helping others.

• Inclusiveness. We believe in the need for different perspectives and commit ourselves to representation from all members of our diverse community.

• Innovation. We vigorously support pioneering programs and advocacy to meet community needs.

• Integrity. We work together to advance the Center's mission, and we honor and apply these values in what we do and say.

Health Services

The Center is one of the largest and most experienced providers of LGBT health and mental healthcare, supported by a research team working to advance the care and treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Together, our medical providers, therapists, and pharmacy staff help clients lead healthier, happier lives by keeping their minds and bodies well.

Social Services & Housing

The Center is a vital social safety net for the LGBT community; a safe and welcoming place where individuals of all ages can find help, as well as hope and support, when they need it the most. From housing homeless youth to providing affordable housing for seniors—and from helping transgender people find employment to providing legal support for asylum seekers—no organization serves more LGBT people than the Center.

Culture & Education

The Center is more than a service provider, it’s where a vibrant community comes together to learn, grow, and celebrate. We produce live performances and host exhibitions that showcase and celebrate the lives and experiences of the diverse LGBT community. To inform and enrich people, while helping them connect with one another, we host forums, activities, and events. We also provide affordable meeting space for groups, clubs, and organizations to host their own activities. We can help you get your GED and we award college scholarships to deserving LGBT youth.

Leadership & Advocacy

The Center is one of the leading organizations advancing civil rights and freedoms for LGBT people. By mentoring and developing a new generation of leaders, domestically and internationally, we’re strengthening the global LGBT movement while we educate the public about LGBT issues, mobilize constituents, advance policy initiatives, and work with political leaders throughout the U.S. to promote equality and justice for LGBT people.

In schools throughout the country we’re leading efforts to help end anti-LGBT bigotry and even the thought of suicide among LGBT students. We’re also working to revolutionize the care and treatment of LGBT foster youth. Throughout California we train social service providers, caregivers for seniors, government agencies, law enforcement officials, and others to help them better serve the diverse LGBT community.

The Anita May Rosenstein Campus

The Los Angeles LGBT Center has raised $47 million to build the Anita May Rosenstein Campus. Scheduled to open in early 2019, the revolutionary new campus will include affordable housing for low-income seniors and beds for young adults, a Senior Services Center, a Youth Center, a commercial kitchen to feed homeless youth and seniors, retail space, and much more.

When finished, the new building will form a campus with the Center's arts, educational and cultural facility - known as The Village at Ed Gould Plaza - and span more than one city block. It will also become the Center's new headquarters, facilitating a major expansion of medical services at the current headquarters in the McDonald Wright Building on Schrader Boulevard.
