It is our great pleasure and honor to welcome you to the 2021 Sonoma County Wine Auction! We are thrilled to have you join us LIVE for this extraordinary afternoon, one that provides positive and far-reaching impact on the lives of those in need in our Sonoma County community.

As Sonoma County rises out of the challenges we have faced during the past few years, the proceeds raised today will help support over 90 local nonprofit organizations focused on education & literacy, health & human services, the environment, arts & culture and more. This would not be possible without your extraordinary generosity and support.

The strength, dedication, generosity, commitment, and resiliency of our wine community, our sponsor partners, our amazing countywide nonprofit beneficiaries, and all our volunteers, donors, and event participants like you, is truly inspirational to all of us at Sonoma County Vintners Foundation!

This year we are honored to have three incredible and iconic Alumni Honorary Chairs, The Jackson Family of Jackson Family Wines, George F. Hamel, Jr. and The Hamel Family of Hamel Family Wines, and Dan Kosta of AldenAlli Winery who have joined together in this important mission to provide much needed support for our community during this critical time of need. We appreciate their dedication, generosity and passion for our Sonoma County Vintners Foundation, and for Sonoma County.

Jackson Family Wines is a family-owned wine company founded by Jess Jackson in 1982. The family’s collection of 40 wineries spans significant winegrowing regions, from California, Oregon, France, Australia, Chile, and South Africa. Vineyard ownership, environmental stewardship and a steadfast commitment to making exceptional wines are founding principles that chairman Barbara Banke and the Jackson family uphold to this day.

The family is a generous supporter of many local nonprofit organizations and passionate advocates for children’s and educational charities. They have funded projects that include the Jess S. Jackson Sustainable Winery Building at UC Davis, designed to train the next generation of winemakers in sustainability practices; the launch of the Family Justice Center Sonoma County, assisting victims of domestic violence; and Catholic Charities’ Caritas Village, helping transition the homeless into permanent housing. Additionally, the family supports 10,000 Degrees, the Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma-Marin, and the Redwood Empire Food Bank.

Hamel Family Wines, located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, is truly a family affair. George met Pamela in high school in Virginia during their junior year. They married and began their family wine odyssey opening the winery in 2014. Their son, George, III, oversees the sales, financial and business operations, and son John oversees the winegrowing and winemaking. The family works to produce the highest quality wines in limited quantities from grapes grown organically and biodynamically in their Sonoma Valley and Moon Mountain District estate vineyards.

The Hamel Family’s generous and philanthropic spirit has benefited those less fortunate in the community and continues to make a positive impact in Sonoma County. In addition to George, Jr. serving as the 2018 Sonoma County Wine Auction Chair, and the family’s support of the auction for many years, the Hamels have been active supporters of Wine Country Wildfire Relief and affordable housing.

JEFF STEWART (HARTFORD FAMILY WINES), MIKE SULLIVAN (BENOVIA WINERY), JOHN HOLDREDGE (HOLDREDGE WINES), TONY LOMBARDI (LOMBARDI WINES), ROD BERGLUND (JOSEPH SWAN VINEYARDS), CELEBRITY CHEF DANIEL KEDAN

LOT INCLUDES:• Once-in-a-lifetime “Monday Standard Reimagined” winemaker lunch

for 5 couples, crafted by celebrity chef Daniel Kedan • Private winemaker tour and tastings with Jeff Stewart of Hartford

Family Wines, Mike Sullivan of Benovia Winery, John Holdredge of Holdredge Wines, Tony Lombardi of Lombardi Wines and Rod Berglund of Joseph Swan Vineyards

• 5 signed, limited production Magnums for each couple• Event Dates: April 8 – 9, 2022

Some years ago, a small group of winemakers began meeting for lunch on Mondays. Their home base was the venerable Backyard Restaurant in Forestville… When Daniel Kedan, chef/owner of Backyard Forestville decided to close recently, the restaurant hosted one last, farewell lunch with Monday Standard alumni and former staff. It was an epic event where stories were told of all the camaraderie, incredible food, legendary wines and, most importantly, the friendships that had been made and strengthened during these communal gatherings. While Backyard’s Monday Standard is no more, these iconic winemakers have decided to bring it back one more time to support Sonoma County Vintners Foundation and its many worthwhile local causes. The winning bidder and their closest friends (five couples) are invited to experience this epic “Monday Standard Reimagined” – joining winemakers Jeff Stewart of Hartford Family Wines, Mike Sullivan of Benovia Winery, John Holdredge of Holdredge Wines, Tony Lombardi of Lombardi Wines and Rod Berglund of Joseph Swan Vineyards, along with celebrity chef Daniel Kedan, for a once-in-a-lifetime, and delicious wine & food throw-down. While the unspoken “rule” of Monday Standard lunches was that the winemakers not bring wines that they had made, a one-time exception will be made for this incredible event, with winery cellar treasures joined by specially selected unicorn wines from each of the winemaker’s personal cellars. In addition, each winery will provide a limited production signed Magnum for each couple (five Magnums from each winery), along with a private tour and tasting for the winning bidders during their weekend stay.

Event dates are April 8 – 9, 2022. Transportation not included. Alternate event dates can be arranged, dependent on availability.

WINE COLLECTION:• 5 signed, limited production Magnums (one from each winery) for

Your day begins with a welcome reception, tour and tasting at Mauritson Winery before you head up the ridge to the sweeping vistas of the Rockpile AVA. Learn more about the history of the Mauritson family and this unique appellation during your tour and tasting at Rockpile Ridge Vineyard. While you enjoy acclaimed wines amidst the vines, Mauritson Cellar Master Adrian Reyes will be simmering pork in the cazo, a traditional Michoacán copper pot, and sharing his family recipe for Carnitas. Michoacán is famous across Mexico for its Carnitas, and people there have been preparing the dish in their traditional way for generations. The Michoacán technique for cooking Carnitas is surprisingly simple – all you need is fresh pork, lard, salt, water and a copper cazo (thick-bottomed pot), said to better conduct heat for even cooking, ultimately giving the Carnitas a more intense flavor. The complexity of the dish comes from the chefs’ mastery of heat and the order in which pig parts are cooked. Learn all the family secrets and get ready to enjoy your Carnitas fiesta luncheon, complete with all the fixings and hand-made tortillas. When you descend, with your own copper cazo in hand, you’ll be ready to host fiestas for years to come!
