Year after year, we sell works to collectors who have made this event a yearly, "must attend," and they return to the fair...to buy. In addition, as attendance seems to increase year by year, we meet and work with new collectors who become steady, art-centric clients. For us, it's the perfect way to kick off the year,” said Steven Diamant, gallery director.

Informed by hertravels to West Africa, Kranendonk's works combine vivid brushwork with hand-embroidered paper collage and photographic elements. The works represent a travelogueof collected images and memories, reinforced by the frequent use of photographs of theartist and her family members. Using disparate textile patterns and screen-printedtextures, Kranendonk's large scale works are playful in their manipulation of perspective.

To capture the unique energy of previous programs, here’s a throwback to DiverseArtLA2019, featuring artist Dorian Wood and his performance piece, Nodrissx/Narcissx curatedby Marisa Caichiolo.

Artist Dorian Wood seeks to glorify both the sanctity and irreverence of intimacy. As anon-binary person of color and an autodidact without a formal college education, Woodrevels in challenging the division between artist and viewer..

In his 2019 featured performance “Nodrissx/Narcissx,” the artist sat in a chair in thecenter of a darkened room, covered from head to toe in a cloth, with a slit exposing theirleft breast. Attendees were invited to kneel in front of the artist and suckle on the artist’s

breast. During the performance installation, the artist vocalized to a 4-channelsoundscape created solely by artist’s voice, recorded on a microphone Wood worethroughout the piece.

Wood’s work has been showcased in concert halls and performance spaces around theworld, including The Broad (Los Angeles), LACMA (Los Angeles), The Stone (NYC), MASSGallery (Austin), Kulturhuset (Stockholm) and Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin). As a musician,Wood has released more than a dozen recordings.
