• Dividing up your time is important

• Danger is thinking you need to spend most of the 1 ½ hours on the analysis.

• You need to spend quite a lot of time on the introduction and conclusion as together these account for 25 of the 70 marks (35%!).

1. Introduction

• Define the key words in the question.

• Focus on what it is you are going to talk about, e.g. use of Sustainabilty, food supply, etc.

• Framework. Where is the report going? why have you chosen the case studies you have.

• 3 Paras• 1 ½ sides

2. Methodology

• Tell the examiner what sources you used.

• Importantly say WHY you used them, are they reliable, up to date etc.

3. Analysis

• Tackle the issue, giving both sides of the coin

• Use case studies to illustrate points. Don’t just write all I know in this case study is…

• Suggest you have theory first then a case study. E.g. 3.1.1 The Gene Revolution

3.1.2 What is the Gene Revolution?

3.1.3 New Rice for Africa (NERICA)

3.1.4 The Brazilian Supercow

3.1.5 Sub Evaluation of Gene Revolution

3. Analysis

• Put in diagrams / models. Not maps, waste of time.

• Helpful to have ongoing evaluation in analysis as helps to get more marks. Make sure you refer back to the question

4. Conclusion & Evaluation

• End conclusion - recap and group case studies or main report sections, be specific

• NOT new information!

• Refer back to the question, why not write it out?

• Give your opinion and don’t sit on the fence.

• Answer the question once and for all!

• 1 – 1 and a half pages.
