FEEDBACK
FM4 – Section BEXAM BOARD EXPECTATIONS
HOW do the examples below “Cinematically” engage the spectator? (June 2013 question Focus)
FM4 – Section B
Erik Barnouw (1993) "The documentarist, like any communicator in any medium, makes endless choices".
WHAT are some of the ‘choices’ (Barnouw – 1993) that Jules & Gedeon made in this documentary?
The narrative and other technical features (sound, editing, mise-en-scene, camera - obtrusive? unobtrusive?) is "an expression of his point of view, whether he realises it or not, whether he acknowledges it or not" (Barnouw – 1993)
Should they have continued?
Stella Bruzzi (2000) states that Barnouw's ideology connotes:- "..the minute an individual becomes involved in the representation of reality, the integrity of that reality is irretrievably lost".
The narrative and other technical features (sound, editing, mise-en-scene, camera - obtrusive? unobtrusive?) is "an expression of his point of view, whether he realises it or not, whether he acknowledges it or not" (Barnouw – 1993)
WHAT are some of the examples in the text where the spectator would question the ‘integrity’ (Bruzzi – 2000) of the reality as a result of Jules & presence?
FM4 – Section B
