Registered for PhD in the University of Nottingham, School of Mechanical,
Materials, Manufacturing and Management. A thorough investigation
characterising and describing the vehicle defrosting and demisting
mechanisms on the front vehicle windshield have been carried out. The
investigation used CFD (Fluent 5) with experiments to validate the numerical
results. The present study has shown how Computational Fluid Dynamics can
be applied successfully to the evaluation of the defrosting and demisting of the
windshield. Also, CFD gives vital details on the fluid flow and heat transfer in
the vicinity of the windshield and within the passenger compartment.
