  • It always pays to plan ahead. Andwith the Bendix/King KX 155 and KX 165 NAV/COMMs, stay aheadfrequency pre-planning is push but-ton simple.

Both NAV and COMM frequencydisplays on these units incorporatethe popular flip-flop preselect fea-ture. So, you can set up en route orapproach frequency changeovers wellin advance of your actual transitionpoint or ATC handoff sequence fortrue stay ahead flight management.

Just select your upcoming NAVor COMM frequency in the standby(STBY) display, and youre all set toflip-flop it into active status at thepress of a button. This function mayalso be controlled from an optionalremote mounted switch.

Both active and standby fre-quencies are displayed simultaneous-

ly, so you never have to worry aboutwhats being stored. And theres no chance of inadvertently erasing a frequency just when you need it most.

An innovative non-volative mem-ory circuit holds all the displayed fre-quencies in storagethrough aircraftshutdowns or momentary powerinterruptionswithout the need forbattery power of any kind.

Large, self-dimming, micropro-cessor-controlled gas discharge read-outs and solid-state electronic tuningprovide fast, accurate selection of all200 NAV and 760 COMM frequenciesand both the KX 155 and KX 165 fea-ture a built-in 40-channel glideslopereceiver. (As an option, theyre alsoavailable without the glideslope.)

On the COMM side, both the KX 155 and KX 165 systems give you

10 watts minimum transmitter powerfor maximum range and clarity.

And on the NAV side, the KX 165suseful Radial feature offers you an instant readout of the radialyoure on (from the active VORTACstation), digitally displayed in thestandby NAV frequency window. This Radial readout doesnt interferewith either your active or standbyNAV frequencies. (However, the NAVstandby frequency does go into non-displayed storage, and the activefrequency then becomes linked fordirect tuning through the frequencyselector knobs.) Thus, with bothactive and standby frequenciescontinuously available, its easy toperform a quick crossfix check bysimply pressing the flip-flop buttonand noting the displayed radial fromeach of the two selected VORTACs.

Innovativeflip-flopdigital displays bring you pushbuttonfrequency preselection for both NAV and COMM.

The lower-cost KX 155 system isvirtually identical in appearance tothe KX 165; however, it doesnt includethe digital Radial readout feature. Also, the KX 155 requires an externalVOR/LOC converter (usually includedn the appropriate Bendix/King NAVindicator) while the KX 165 comeswith a built-in VOR/LOC converterdesigned to interface directly with anyARINC standard CDI or HSI display.

Each of these NAV/COMM unitsweighs less than 6 lbs. and stands just over 2 inches high in your SilverCrown stack making them thesmallest, most space-efficient TSOdNAV/COMM packages you can buyanywhere. Both are available in either14 or 28 volt DC configurations foreasy installation in any aircraft.

KI 202/KI 203 VOR/LOC Indica-tors. The KI 202 is compatiblewith the KX 165 without glide-slope or other NAV systems whichcontain their own VOR/LOC converters. The KI 203 is compat-ible with the KX 155 or other NAV systems which do not con-tain their own VOR/LOC con-verter. Both indicators feature rectilinear needle action for left/right course deviation, anti-reflective coated lens, and inter-nal blue-white lighting.KI 204 and KI 206 VOR/LOC/Glideslope Indicators. The KI 204 indicator interfaces with the KX 155 with glideslope or other NAV/GS systems which do not contain thier own VOR/LOC converters. The KI 204 provides rectilinear display of VOR/LOC and glideslope deviation, inter-nal blue-white lighting, and an anti-reflective coated glass lens. The KI 206 is identical in appear-ance to the KI 204 and interfaces with the KX 165 (including GS) or other NAV systems which con-tain VOR/LOC converters.KI 208 VOR/LOC Indicator. Has a self-contained VOR/LOC con-verter for use with the KX 155.Left/right course deviation is dis-

A complete package for the sophisticated panel. The KX 165 is both the number one and number two NAV/COMM in this configuration.Long-range navigation is provided by the KLN 90B GPS, and Mode S transponder capabilityis offered by the KT 70. Full IFR performance and a KFC 150 Flight Director/Autopilot makethis the most complete avionics package available from one manufacturer.

Performance to match your panel and price range. This package features dual KX 155s as the numbers one and two NAV/COMM, with DMEchanneling for the KN 62A DME receiver. GPSinformation comes from the KLN 89B GPS receiver, and our KT 76C serves as the transponder. The affordable KAP 150 integratedautopilot combines performance and functionality.

Heres a money-saving Silver Crown system withfull IFR capabilities. In this system, dual KX 155 NAV/COMMs areteamed with the KR 87 and KT 76A transponderto provide a basic IFR package in a minimum of panel space. Add the KN 64 panel-mountedDME at a surprisingly low cost.
