Public Authority for Housing Welfare

Source: http://www.housing.gov.kw/en/AboutPHW.aspx; The National (2013); Kuwait Times (2013)

As per Kuwaiti law, every married Kuwaiti couple (defined as the groom

being Kuwaiti) is entitled to a house “Land and Loan”

PAHW manages all steps from designing and planning to constructing and

distributing the homes

Currently, there are ~110,000 applications in the backlog and the average

wait time for a unit is between 10 and 18 years depending on the desired

location

In an effort to clear up the backlog, the Minister of Housing made a

commitment in 2013 to allocate 12,000 units annually. PAHW met this

commitment and allocated 12,030 units in 2014.
