LOCAL ARAB TIMES, MONDAY, JUNE 5, 2017 5 Fund coordinating with authority on mechanism to grant lands for SMEs Areas to be distributed equally based on type of activities KUWAIT CITY, June 4: Kuwait National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) De- velopment is working on allocating more than 76 landed sites of different areas and offices of differ- ent sizes for establishment of small and medium en- terprises affiliated to the Public Authority for In- dustry, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting informed sources. They affirmed the keenness of the fund to organize round- the-clock open exhibitions for promoting the products of small and medium enter- prises. The sources revealed about the coordination between the fund and the authority concern- ing the mechanism for granting lands and spaces in Ardiya, Al- Harfiya and Shuaiba Industrial Area, and other sites. They affirmed that the areas will be distributed equally based on the type of activities. The total number of tenders floated last month reached KD 33.64 million, with the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and Kuwait Oil Com- pany (KOC) taking the lion’s share, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting sources. They affirmed that KOC signed a contract with British PETROFAC to develop techni- cal competencies for different operations of the company in a deal worth KD 11.3 million. The sources indicated about future challenges that require the company to seek assistance of foreign companies for their ex- pertise and experience. Director of the 6.5 Ring Road Project Engineer Mohammad Mirza announced that the foun- dation stone of the road has been laid, describing the project as a major one being supervised by Ministry of Public Works, re- ports Aljarida daily. He explained that the project will cost KD 97 million and is expected to be completed with- in a period of three years. The road is a highway between the Sixth and Seventh ring roads and it is about 18.5 kms long. It will have four lanes with two service lanes. It is expected to serve areas from an intersection that links South Abdullah Al- Mubarak and the Seventh Ring Road, and ending at an intersec- tion on the King Faisal Express- way (Road 50). Eng Mirza revealed that the project will have nine different phases of execution for construc- tion of nine intersections and nine pedestrian bridges, adding that the road, in the future, will link Subhan area through the Seventh Ring Road within a dis- tance of 13 kms. He revealed the project will serve Abdullah Al-Mubarak from West to South, in addition to Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2, new Cargo Area, Dajeej, Subhan and part of Sa- bah Al-Salem University City. The Ministry of Services will reshuffle about 45 employees in the Subscriber Services, Postal and Administrative Affairs sec- tors in order to fill up vacancies in the next two weeks, reports Al-Anba daily quoting reliable sources. Sources disclosed the list of employees included in the re- shuffle is ready and it will be finalized in the next few days; indicating the list includes a number of directors and super- visors, seven of whom are as- signed in different switchboards. On the other hand, sources said the ministry is still waiting for the Cabinet to appoint the new undersecretary — the suc- cessor of former Undersecretary Eng Hameed Al-Qattan who was referred for retirement. A number of politicians, intellectu- als, prominent personalities, religious scholars, lawmakers and members of Kuwaiti-Iranian Friendship League attended the ceremony. Addressing all those present at the ceremony, Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Ali Reda Enayati called to mind the martyrs of Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque. He also praised the keenness of the late Imam in encouraging participa- tion of people from all walks of life and sects in building the country through their presence in the polls to choose their president and repre- sentatives in the Parliament and local councils.
