INFORMATION PRESENTATION

Problems : • Available information is inadequate• Reports in Statement format instead of

Statistical form• Content of reports not easily noticeable• Reports were clumsy, over-crowded• Critical status of any aspect of business lost its

identity due to detailed report

Page 9: Kulakarni killicks

INFORMATION PRESENTATION

Suggestions: • Additional processing would help filter the data

and classify the data• Reports should be in graphical format and not

in statement/numerical• Reports should induce mental response of

reader• Good information always stimulates managerial

thought process

Page 10: Kulakarni killicks

QUALITY AND VALUE OF INFORMATION

Problems : • Tendency to ask more data and

information without examining needs• Have error and bias• Not matches requirement• Reports not available in time

Page 11: Kulakarni killicks

QUALITY AND VALUE OF INFORMATION

Suggestions :

• Precisely correct, up-to-date and in time data• Perfect information is a myth• Rather then asking more information the

manager should sensitize the decision and weigh the pros and cons

MANAGER AS THE INFORMATION PROCESSOR

Issues :

• Info not sufficient to satisfy all the managers• Changing needs require updated systems.• Need for valid and controlled data. • Difference in managerial techniques.

Page 13: Kulakarni killicks

MANAGER AS THE INFORMATION PROCESSOR

Suggestions :• It is difficult to make a common report and

provide to Manager and top managers• Managers looks the input and output information

in respect to their dept and their teams• Top managements were looking for overall growth

in terms of graphics or numbers and are not looking for calculations and technically achieved data

SUGGESTION BY MCS

• To Invest and provide interactive reporting tool• Different templates to be created for designing the

reports with standards fields and customized fields • From each dept. atleast one person to be

nominated and trained for designing the report• The manager and/or executives themselves check/

audit their reports• Graphical reports to be designed for senior

management

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

• Any additional information has its own cost of creation. Not only money but also time and efficiency

• Too much information leads to more confusion and delays in decision making due to more and more time taken to analyze the additional data.

• It is important to know how much data is sufficient as there cannot be “perfect data”

• There should not be overload of any data as correct unbiased data should be available to manager to make a right decision

Page 17: Kulakarni killicks

CONCLUSION • The MIS provides support to managers as they

work to achieve corporate goals. • It enables managers to compare results to

established company goals and identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement
