Problem
• 8th Grade Advanced Math
• Lack of retention of mathematical concepts throughout the course of the school year.
• Lack of self regulation for studying.
Intervention• Based on Cognitive Constructivism
• Digital Index Cards using Evernote application
o Self regulation
o “BYOD”
Results/Data
• 82% increase in retention on cumulative pretest/post-test.
Results/Data
• Increase in “above average” note-taking organization from 75% to 87% of advanced students.
• 92% of students intend to incorporate digital note-taking into other disciplines in the future.
Reflection
• Students reported how much easier it was for them to locate concepts in Evernote vs. traditional notebook.
• Student ideas for transferring concept of digital note-taking to other disciplines.
A-ha
• Students were more skilled at entering data into mobile devices vs. typing on a computer.
• Increase in student engagement.
