Learners will extend their knowledge and understanding by deconstructing existing products in one of the three sectors: audio/moving image, publishing and interactive media. Students will learn how media production techniques are used to create different effects to communicate meaning to audiences. This component will give students an understanding of media practitioners’ work, techniques and technology, which are used to contribute to the creation of media products.
Assessment
Internally set portfolio task
YEARS 10 (outline of course) 2019‐20
In this component, learners will develop practical media production skills and techniques. They will have the opportunity to specialise in one or more of the following media sectors: audio/moving image, publishing and/or interactive media. Learners will take part in workshops and classes where you will develop practical skills and techniques. Learners will apply these skills and techniques to relevant pre‐production, production and post‐production processes when reworking an existing media product/s. Throughout your development, learners will review their progress and consider how they can make improvements to their techniques.
Assessment
Internally set portfolio task
YEARS 11 (outline of course) 2020‐21
In this component, Learners will respond to a client brief and create a product in one of the following media sectors: audio/moving image, publishing or interactive. Learners will interpret the client’s needs and engage in the process of ideas generation, selecting and refining their ideas until they are satisfied that they have an idea that meets the requirements of the brief. Learners will undertake pre‐production planning to demonstrate to the client how their ideas will be implemented within a planned media product. Throughout the pre‐production process, learners will need to monitor and review the effectiveness of their planning and intended outcome to ensure that their planned media product is fit for audience and purpose. This should enable them to make the necessary amendments and improvements to your proposed product as they enter the production stage of the process and create a suitable digital media product in response to the brief.
Assessment
Majority of the year spent in pre production creating assets and elements required to meet the client brief during the timetabled production stage (controlled
