KS4 OPTIONS EVENING

CAMBRIDGE NATIONALS

IT/CREATIVE IMEDIA

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

• Cambridge Nationals (OCR)

• Level 2 – same as GCSE – but vocational

equivalent

• Equivalent to 1 GCSE

• Length – 2 years

• Single option – 2 lessons p/w

WHAT IS CREATIVE IMEDIA?

• Creative iMedia is a new course

that we have started teaching

for the first time this year

• It focusses on the creative use of

ICT to produce media products

such as websites, graphics,

interactive displays, apps,

movies etc.

• Creative iMedia is an option

that is open to everyone – if

you don’t choose to it, you will

not do ICT after year 8

Digital Media is a key part of many areas of our everyday

lives and vital to the UK economy. Production of digital

media products is a requirement of almost every business

so there is huge demand for a skilled and digitally literate

workforce.

This qualification will help students develop specific and

transferable skills such as research, planning, and review,

working with others and communicating creative concepts.

The qualification’s hands-on approach has strong relevance

to the way

young people use the technology required in

creative media.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

• 75% coursework and 25% exam

• Practical and hands-on creative ICT

• Looks at both theory and modern application of ICT

and media as well as transferable skills that are

useful across most subjects including:

a more practical qualification who enjoy creative
