The Current State of Ediscovery

EdiscoveryIn its simplest form, “ediscovery” refers to the collection, review, and production of electronically-stored information in

response to litigation, audits, or investigations

Generally, ediscovery requires organizations to sift through huge reserves of unstructured information to find a limited set of relevant material

• Ediscovery currently costs anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 per gigabyte

• Discovery tends to be one of the least predicable and most expensive phases of litigation

• Organizations can needlessly add to costs by ‘starting fresh,’ as opposed to leveraging previous ediscovery efforts

With a few exceptions, the universe of vendors addressing these problems has not addressed the challenges of

managing ediscovery as an ongoing enterprise function.
