Amritotsava
APRIL 2015 PAGE 2
Amrita School of Engineering has always been synonymous with great academics and
discipline upholding the culture of our society. To treasure Amrita‟s culture, Amritotsava (the
Institution Day) and Kalanjali (the Cultural Fest) are celebrated towards the end of each
academic year. The EEE department was at the helm of this year‟s Amritotsava which was held
on the morning of 20th April, 2015. Dr. K.B. Akhilesh, Professor, Dept. of Management Studies,
IISc., Bengaluru was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He gave an inspirational talk on the
importance of synergistic relation between various departments for research purposes. He
asserted that one has to be distinct in one‟s field if he/she doesn‟t want to be extinct. He also
illustrated how the act of appreciation could make a difference in the lives of both the giver and
the receiver. Continuing the flow of wisdom, Director Br. Dhanraj spoke about the necessity of
reaching out to people in need. „Service before self‟ was the crux of his talk. Associate Dean Dr.
Rakesh S.G. updated everyone with the annual report. Certificates were handed out to students
who achieved academic excellence. Members of various cultural and technical clubs were also
given certificates. The Chief Guest along with others on the dais released the school magazine,
Sanchita. The event came to an end with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Rashmi M.R. from
the Department of EEE. The staff members were provided with a sumptuous lunch.

The 20th & 21st of April 2015, constituted an explosion of a weekend. The most awaited
time of the year, Kalanjali‟15 witnessed most of the students decked up in ethnic wear making
the campus colourful. The main stage provided a platform for the three forms of art: dance,
music and drama. The energy and enthusiasm of the audience were matched by that of the
participants. Simultaneously, many off-stage events were held throughout the campus. Franchise
Mania, Solo Singing-Classical, Duos, Electric Heels, Instrumental-Solo, Mono-Acting, Wheel
of Fortune, Sherlocked, Swaraanjali and Face Painting were some of the events organized by the
various clubs of Amritadhara.
The quadrangle in the New Block was decorated with beautiful paintings and sketches.
This art gallery caught everyone‟s attention. Prakriti Club organized Cooking without Flame
and Art from Waste events. Krishna Hall witnessed the
initial rounds of Sherlocked and Faker News which
stimulated the intellect of the participants. Gamers of the
school had a wonderful time playing Counter-Strike. The
second day witnessed Solo Dance and Group Dance
performances on the main stage. There were a total of six
teams for Stage Play. Solo Singing- Indian and Western
Solo were followed by Group Singing. Amidst all of these events, Tiki Taka was held on the
sports field. Tensions rose as the defending
champions took a stance against their
opponents. Prerana Club did an amazing job of
providing a delicious menu by setting up good
food stalls. For the very first time, a food stall
selling homemade cupcakes was set up by our
students.
