KRISHNA TULASI

Ocimum tenuiflorum, also known as Ocimum sanctum, holy basil, or tulasi  is an aromatic

 plant in the family Lamiaceae which is native to the Indian subcontinent and widespread as a

cultivated plant throughout the Southeast Asian tropics. It is an erect, many branched sub shrub,30!0 cm "#$$% in& tall with hairy stems and simple  phyllota'ic green or purple leaves that are

strongly scented.Tulasi is cultivated for religious and medicinal purposes, and for its essential oil.  It is widely

known across the Indian subcontinent as a medicinal plant and an herbal tea,  commonly usedin Ayurveda, and has an important role within the (aishnava tradition of  )induism,  in which

devotees perform worship involving holy basil plants or leaves. *his plant is revered as an eli'ir 

of life.

1. Cough and Respiratory Problems:

/hewing *ulasi leaves also cures cough and flu. It helps to mobilie mucous in bronchitis and

asthma attacks. A decoction of leaves with honey and ginger is an effective remedy against

 bronchitis, asthma, influena and cold. A decoction of leaves, cloves and common salt alsorelieves influena.
