DEPUTY’S REPORT We had a great fun start for the week with many of our students participating in a fashion parade using the clothes left over from the Twilight Fair. Thank you to all the staff and parents who assisted in making this a fun event to celebrate recycling week, especially Mrs Vickie Horton who sorted, washed and prepared clothes for the students. There was no money involved and the students really enjoyed wearing and keeping their new outfits! The other students encouraged them and cheered them on as they fashioned their wears.

Yesterday Kororo Public School hosted a Filmpond Professional Development Day. Some of our interested staff attended as well as many teachers from our local area. The NSW Department of Education has partnered with Filmpond to help schools tell their story and engage their community. Every day as educators we inspire and engage our students, but often these efforts never make it outside of our classrooms and schools. Filmpond (formerly known as ClassMovies) is a project to help schools share their work with their colleagues and school community through the production of short deos. Schools can also launch their own school channel called a 'pond' and embed it in their school website. So keep an eye out for Kororo Public School’s videos. Yesterday the Year 3 students were out and about on a school excursion to the Botanical Gardens and to participate in a Hooked On Fishing Program. The program:

provides students with the basic skills necessary for recreational fishing with the view that it will become a lifelong interest

introduces students to the concept of sustaining quality aquatic habitats by practicing safe and responsible fishing

Get Hooked… it's Fun to Fish is made up of six teaching modules which form a Junior Fishing Code and are derived from the National Code principles. The Junior Fishing Codes have been aligned to the Australian Curriculum and meet syllabus outcomes across all Key Learning Areas.

I enjoyed visiting the excursion and to see who was lucky enough to catch a fish. Thank you to Mrs Stratford for teaching the program to Year 3 and organising the fun excursion to celebrate their learning. Leonie Smith DP

Well done Tess for writing great numbers !

FREE FASHION FRENZY The chance to choose an item of free clothing in our Fashion Frenzy proved very popular on Monday. Every item of clothing for the fashion parade and Fashion Frenzy were chosen from clothes donated to our Twilight Fair. All surplus clothes were donated to a number of Op Shops in town. The celebration of Recycling Month with our Fashion Parade was a fantastic way for students to appreciate the benefits of recycled quality clothing. They also learnt that donating unwanted clothing to charity is a great way to “feel good” and give back to the community. Thanks to all families who donated clothing to our Twilight Fair. Special thanks must also go to Keides G, Nathan L and Jake R who helped throughout the sorting process. Their enthusiasm and commitment was much appreciated.
