Baseline Eel Tissue Report • Eel sampling undertaken prior to project • Results peer reviewed by MPI toxicologists • Report to be added to website • Key findings
• Dioxins in eel tissue in the remediation zone and to west of SH30 (Powdrell Road) is above conservative human health consumption rates
• Control sites (Orini, Te Rahu, Kopeopeo West sluice gates) all safe to eat

Water Quality • Changes due to the limitations of turbidity monitoring
during periods of increased turbidity within the canal e.g. inflows from adjacent land.
• Adopted value of 11 pg/L based upon no observed effect concentration.
• NZ Drinking water standards – 30 pg/L. • Based upon research showing the NOEC was between
11 and 38 pg/L. • Used to confirm discharges are acceptable. • Agreed upon by project team, consent authority and
IM. • All results during July, August, and September were
between 5.07 pg/L and 8.1 pg/L.

Canal Sediment Validation The 95% UCL for Total PCDD/F I-TEQ Upperbound results up to the end of Section 4 was 36 pg/g, which is below the remedial target of 60 pg/g.

Cultural Monitor update
• Provides regular reports to TRONA and IM • Ongoing monitoring of Section 5 as needed

Health & Safety • Works paused 18-21 September for H&S to
re-assess and ensure before moving into more contaminated area:
