The Council was created under the  Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006  (Vic). Reporting to the Executive Director, Aboriginal Victoria  and the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council, the Executive Offi cer is responsible for the day to day management of the Offi ce, which is made up of 11 staff, and for providing support to the Council in fulfi lling its responsibilities in the following areas:

• Making decisions on Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) applications   and Managing, overseeing and supervising RAP operations

• To act as the co-ordinating body responsible for the overseeing, monitoring, managing reporting and returning of Aboriginal Ancestral Remains in Victoria

• Overseeing and monitoring the system of reporting and returning Aboriginal secret or sacred objects

• Managing the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Fund• Promoting and facilitating research into the Aboriginal cultural heritage of Victoria• Promoting public awareness and understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage in Victoria• Producing a fi ve-year State of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Report• Advising the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and others on the protection and management

To successfully perform in this position an excellent knowledge of issues relevant to Victorian Traditional Owners and demonstrated experience working at an executive level in similar roles within government or supporting an independent statutory authority, an Aboriginal organisation or board, would be an advantage. PUBLIC NOTICEOF AUTHORISATION MEETING FOR A PROPOSED INDIGENOUS LAND USE AGREEMENT UNDER THE NATIVE TITLE ACT 1993 (CTH)The Butchulla People have made an application to the Federal Court of Australia (QUD288/2009 Butchulla People Land & Sea Claim #2) seeking recognition of their native title rights and interests (Butchulla Application) under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (Native Title Act).As part of the processes for dealing with the doing of acts, their effects on native title and compensation, the Butchulla People propose to enter into an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (Area Agreement) (proposed ILUA) pursuant to Subdivision C of Division 3 of Part 2 of the Native Title Act with the State of Queensland (acting through the Public Safety Business Agency).The Butchulla People are currently described as the biological descendants of the following people:

1. Father / Mother of Gracie and Maudie Daramboi;

2. Mother of Jessie Aldridge’s mother and Lappy;

3. Mother of Charles Richards;4. Garry Owens;5. Annie Morris / Anna Gala nee Morris;6. Granny Polcus / Jenny Brown;7. Willy Brown / Mamboo / Namboo;8. George Gundy;

9. Willy Wondunna;10. Jack Morris;11. Mary Ann (mother of Susan Rooney);12. Roger Bennett;13. Percy Coulson;14. Mother of John and Rosie Broome;15. Mother of Clara, Henry, Percy and

Lucy Wheeler.(the native title claim group)

The proposed ILUA with the State of Queensland relates to Lot 3 on RB96919 (Agreement Area), at 23 Rainbow Beach Road in Rainbow Beach, depicted on the map shown as Map 1 on this notice. The Agreement Area is wholly within the external boundaries of the Butchulla Application.

The proposed ILUA covers the following matters:• consents to activities and works necessary for, and incidental to, the construction of a Fire

and Rescue Station and associated infrastructure on the Agreement Area; and• the surrender and extinguishment of all native title rights and interests on the Agreement Area,
