    Output Laten,y/ This fied dispays the output atency. Cor some drivers you canadjust the atency individuay using a fader. If a fader is not present! thenyou need to open the ASI- 7onfiguration by pressing the ASI- 7onfig button inthe Soundcard tab and adjust the atency using the buffer sie setting in thecontro pane of your audio card. Higher buffer sies resut in higher atencyand vice versa. However! ower buffer sies pace more strain upon thecomputers 78$.     access this by enabing up to four different incoming ports in the InputInterface section. They are assigned in order the first enabed port wiappear in ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) as MA 101+! the second enabed port as M4 101+! andso on.

    The -utput Interface section is used to specify where the DI/I is channeed to'simiar to DI/I TH;$ ports(. Typicay this is not used for most sampingappications.

    KONTAKT PLAYE 2 in Cubase and Nuendo

    Launch 7ubase! go to the /evices menu option and seect the ESTInstruments menu option or press C11 on your "eyboard.

    A window showing the instrument rac" appears. 7ic" on an empty sot andchoose ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) from the avaiabe ist of instrument pug0ins.

    ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) wi now appear in your ist and automaticay be turnedon. It wi aso create a set of audio channes in your EST mi?er thatwi be used for mi? down within your project. This wi aow you to mi?!pan! and process ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; )s output just i"e any other e?istingaudio trac" in your 7ubase song.

    7ic" on the :dit 'e( button to ca up the ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) interface.Here you can contro and edit a the features and functions that ,-NTA,T8LA9:; ) has to offer.

    Now go to the 8roject page and add a DI/I trac" 'if you do not have one

    aready created(.

    =hether you use ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) as a standaone appication or as a pug0in!once youve set up its audioDI/I options 'in the standaone( or instantiated itas a pug0in and propery routed DI/I and audio to and from it! the program wibehave identicay with very few e?ceptions.

    Browser

    -n the eft side of the screen is the 4rowser. The 4rowser gives you thecapabiity to navigate through your avaiabe ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) ibraries! aswe as view engine information and assign automation.

    Libraries

    In the screenshot above! the 4rowser is opened to the Libraries tab. $sing thistab! you wi see a instaed ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) sound ibraries. 9ou can havean infinite amount of sound ibraries instaed here.

    In the submenu under the Libraries tab are a few buttons. There is a refreshbutton to refresh the 4rowser and an eject button to eject an optica disc.

    9ou wi aso see two dropdown menus for $ser Instruments and $ser Dutis.Anytime you resave an instrument or a muti using the LoadSave menu! your savedinstruments and mutis wi appear in this menu. '4y defaut! they are stored onyour hard drive inside the ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) program foder $ser patches. Laterin this manua! we wi discuss the saving of instruments 'in the LoadSave menusection(.

    Library Bo

    Cor each ibrary! there is an Instruments! Dutis! and Info tab. These threetabs aow you to navigate through the ibrary. Instruments are the basicpatches that are created for you to use. Dutis are combinations of variousinstruments.

    If you cic" on the Instruments or Dutis button! a instruments or mutis wibe dispayed beow in the 4rowser.

    +ultis can be merged with other multis. when loading a new multi"

    select /No0 in the 1eplace +ulti dialog bo so that the eisting

    multi is not replaced but merged with the new one. note that onl)

    The Automation tab aows you to assign various typesof DI/I automation to various "nobs within ,-NTA,T8LA9:; )

    In standaone mode! choose +IDI #utomation.

    =hen using ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; ) as a pug0in!seect (ost #utomation.

    =hen in +IDI mode! move the DI/I device#s controthat you want to use for parameter contro in ,-NTA,T8LA9:; ). A Oightning botQ wi ight in red to theeft of the corresponding 77 number in the browser.7ic" on the 77 number and drag it on top of theparameter you want to contro. A hand wi appear ifthe assignment is Oega.Q ;eease the mouse! and theassignment is made.

    Output 'e,tion

    =hen you cic" the -utputs button! the -utputs window appears at the bottom ofthe rac".

    There are two types of faders& O4ueQ faders that reate to channe outputs 'thenumber of faders depends on the number of avaiabe outputs(! and four OorangeQfaders that contro return from the four send effects! as used in Duti setups.:ach fader! output or au? return! has four effect insert points.

    Let#s cover output channe features! going from top to bottom.

    Add C-annel/Adds another output channe to the -utputs section.

    (elete C-annel/To deete a channe! cic" on any section of the channe thatdoesn#t contain an editabe parameter the channe becomes outined in yeow.7ic" on /eete 7hanne to deete. Note& 9ou cannot deete the Au? returnchannes.

    4ide !nserts/Hides a inserts to conserve space.

    Edit Effe,t/To edit an insert effect! cic" on it. Then cic" on this button toopen and cose the edit section for that effect. To deete an effect! cic" onthe effect strip that incudes the parameters 'notthe modue in the sot( theeffect strip becomes outined in orange. Then! press the computer "eyboard#s/eete "ey.

    eset Out Map/This button can be used to restore the output mapping to thedefaut settings.

    Make (efault/7ic"ing on this button saves the current output mappings as yourpermanent defauts. 'These output mappings are saved to the ,-NTA,T 8LA9:; )appication directory inside the /efauts foder.(

    fieds. 9ou can edit the 7hanne Name! but aso! the number of audio channes'cic" on the Audio 7hannes parameter! then drag up or down(. Note that youcan#t specify more audio channes than actuay e?ist.

    :ach channe shows up in a ist. 7ic" on the channe#s 8hysica -ut fied! anda pop0up menu appears with a avaiabe output. 7ic" on a physica output toassign it to a ,-NTA,T ) virtua output.

    9ou can use the @@ and buttons in the ower eft hand corner to automaticaygo to the ne?t avaiabe output.

    Output outin)

    Note& There are ony 1+ mono outputs possibe when ,onta"t 8ayer ) is used asan Audio $nit pug0in! even though newer Logic versions support 6) outputs.Surround channes in 7ubase are not supported. In addition to the methodsmentioned beow! different output configurations can aso be saved as part of amuti.

    In stand0aone mode! there are 6) mono outputs possibe. Therefore! the ma?imumnumber of supported physica mono outputs is 6). If your audio interface

    supports more than 6) mono outputs! you wi ony be abe to use the first 6)outputs in ,onta"t 8ayer ). -utputs can not be freey mapped on the physicaeve of your audio interface

    In pug0in mode! the ma?imum number of virtua mono outputs is aways 6) for ESTand /Ji 1+ for A$ and ;TAS. Cor EST ony! three defaut pug0in versions areavaiabe with ! 1+! and 6) outputs respectivey. Cor a other pug0informats! outputs are seected dynamicay via the host 'pease chec" respectivehost documentation for detais(. If your host does not aow you to removeunused channes! these channes might sti use 78$. ,onta"t 8ayer ) wiautomaticay mute a unused channes and thus ower 78$ usage within the,onta"t 8ayer ) engine.

    A defaut configuration is "ept which is used as soon as ,onta"t 8ayer ) isstarted. ,onta"t 8ayer ) "eeps a separate defaut config setting for everyfavor of ,onta"t 8ayer ) in other words! standaone! EST! A$! /Ji! ;TAS ahave their own output configurations. In order to change the output config! you

    need to first organie the outputs the way you want and then cic" on the Fma"edefautF button in the -utput section. This ensures that at ne?t startup theoutputs are the way you set them.

    Another way to store and reca an output configuration is for pug0in use onyR it is tric"ier and needs carefu handing. The output configuration is asostored together with a pug0in#s tota reca data! which means that a savedsong wi be recaed with the output config it was saved with.
