Shakespeare company started by Kohler grad to make performance stop in Kohler Kohler graduate Lily Hart and friend Fiona Lotti decided to take an artistic leap in starting a small Shakespeare company, and they will be performing in Kohler during the fi rst weekend of August, thanks to a very gen-erous gesture from the Kohler Foundation. The Minneapolis-based group called The Keep Little Company is a cast of seven that focuses on performing in the round and making Shakespeare direct, approachable, and most importantly, funny. They will perform A Midsum-mer Night’s Dream at the Wael-derhaus on August 5 at 7:30

p.m., and August 6 at 2:00 p.m. before going on to other loca-tions in Minnesota. The perfor-mance will be directed by Fiona Lotti. “Having grown up in Kohler, I know how wonderful a space the Waelderhaus is and can remember performing Shake-speare there a few years ago with the Kohler High School Drama Club,” Said Hart. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accept-ed. For more information visit Facebook @keeplittlecompa-ny or dunnx248.wixsite.com/thekeeplittlecompany.

Kohler HS senior working on Scouting project accepting online donations for victims of abuseBy Meg Biznek Hello, My name is Meg Bi-znek. I am a senior at Kohler High School and have lived in the community for 12 years. With that being said, I know how incredible and generous our community really is. As a Girl Scout working on my fi nal Gold Award project, I have just begun a campaign to accept charitable items via an online registry for the local do-mestic abuse and sexual assault victims shelter, Safe Harbor. I am redoing the children’s play area to rekindle a feeling of comfort in the facility. This play area services over 150 children each year who use the resourc-es of Safe Harbor. This project will help to provide a space for the children using their services to grow in a positive and happy environment. The registry link is very similar to a wedding or baby registry in the sense that you select an item needed by Safe Harbor and purchase the item to be shipped to them. There are items at every price point, and I will continue to update

the registry. In some cases, Safe Harbor is in need of more than 1 of the same item. With a huge need of supplies, furniture and personal care items for all of its residents, I took this project on to adequately help meet all of their needs, not just the ones in the play area. I have already put a fresh coat of paint on the walls and got help from a younger troop in the community to create original, brightly colored art-work. Now I’m looking to help fi ll the room. This is where you come in. I would like to ask you to consider donating an item or two or send my Public Service Announcement out to anyone you can think of for do-nations and public support. As a non-profi t, Safe Harbor will recognize your in-kind con-tribution if you mark items as purchased on the registry. This is such a great opportunity to bring together the communi-ty and surrounding areas for a great cause to support one of Sheboygan County’s greatest resources. You can see my public ser-

vice announcement at: youtube.com/watch?v=0Mp3xeKVAJo If you are interested in help-ing to contribute, please search the online registry at www.myregistry.com/public/safehar-bor. It’s really easy! Visit the link, pick out an item or two you may like to donate, make sure you cut and paste Safe Harbor’s shipping information on your purchase, mark it “pur-chased” in the registry to avoid any unnecessary duplicates. Your support means so much to me and I am so glad to be in such a great community!

Love and Comfort,Meg Biznek

This past spring, Sheboygan Chevrolet Chrysler became aware of a special need for the local Sheboygan City Police Department. The department was looking for a small size van to assist with an array of daily activities. On June 22, 2017, Sheboygan Chevrolet Chrysler donated the use of the Grand Caravan to the City (pictured below). Captain Kurt Brasser of the Sheboygan Police Department said the vehicle’s primary use

will be for the community beat offi cers, as well as for training, court services, meetings and community engagement events. Brasser also mentioned that the donated van will be a great op-portunity for the police force to free up one of their squad cars by utilizing the van for trans-porting equipment and multiple people. The Sheboygan Police Department extends its grati-tude toward Sheboygan Chev-rolet Chrysler for their support!

Donations sought for Trees for Tomorrow experienceBy Duane Du Mez The 5th grade students will once again be attending Trees for Tomorrow outdoor educa-tion experience in Eagle River Wisconsin next October. Mrs. Bitter and Mr. Du Mez (I) will be taking them for three days to the north woods to learn about survival skills, conser-vation methods, orienteering skills, and a number of educa-tional programs about a variety of animals common to the north woods. You have the opportunity to be part of this wonderful expe-rience as once again, I am try-ing to encourage anyone to help fund this trip. The individual

expense of the trip is about $250 and I seek to fund about 50% of the trip for 18 students plus the two of us. You can make a donation directly to Trees for Tomorrow and designate it for Kohler Public School 5th grade educational experience. Thank you once again to all the past sponsors who have richly bless-ed the 5th grade students. Dona-tions will be accepted through next October. If you would like to send donations to the school, you can make a check out to the Kohler Public Schools and foot-note it going to the 5th grade Trees for Tomorrow educational experience.

Become a subscriber; give a gift to a Veteran or to the special someone who has everything. For a tax deductible contribution of $50 annually, members of the Sheboygan Rotary Club install a PVC sleeve in the soil below the grass mowing level in your front yard. Then during five national holidays (Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veteran's Day) Rotarians will deliver a 3 x 5 foot American flag on a ten foot pole. Three days after each holiday a Rotarian will retrieve the flag.

You can start at any time. This is a great way for you to proclaim pride in our country while someone else takes care of the details.
