As you design your kitchen and choose the style of your sink, there are several functionality and installation options you’ll want to consider, especially as they may impact your tap selection. We’ve outlined the basic information below. If you find you have additional questions, visit KOHLER.co.uk or contact your showroom representative.

Bowl Count

We offer single, 1½ and double-bowl sinks to

match the way you work – whether you use

your dishwasher for dishes and just wash

large pots in the sink or you hand wash your

dishes and want to separate clean and dirty

items. You’ll also find a variety of bowl sizes

in our offering and may want to consider

a sink with a wet work surface for food

preparation i.e Stages™.

Smart Divide®

If you often wash large pots and pans yet

want the functionality of a double-bowl sink,

consider a Smart Divide® sink. The divider is

uniquely developed to make it easier to clean

large, bulky items while keeping clean and

dirty items separate.

Before You Choose a Kitchen Sink

Bowl Configuration

KOHLER® sinks are available in a range of

configurations, including double-equal and

1½ bowl sinks. In addition our Icerock™,

Modultop™ and Iron/Tones® range of sinks

can be grouped to create customised

configurations.

Under-Mount

These sinks mount beneath the worktop,

and are most often used with solid worktop

materials like granite, composites and timber.

Many of our sinks accommodate both

under-mount and inset-mount applications.

Inset

The easiest model to install and frequently

used with laminate worksurfaces, the inset

sink’s rim extends above the work top surface

and supports the sink's weight. Clips and bolts

under the counter hold the sink securely in

place. Many of our sinks accommodate both


Apron-Front

Often called farmhouse sinks because they

evoke images of traditional kitchens, KOHLER

apron-front sinks have a stylish panel in front

to take the wear and tear of everyday use. Our

fresh approach to colour and materials includes

apron-front options in enameled cast iron and

stainless steel to suit any kitchen interior.

11Before You Choose a Kitchen Sink

Under-Mount Sink Kit

This kit helps ensure quick, sturdy installation

of KOHLER® under-mount sinks, eliminating

the need to build a wood frame or drill into

the worktop, saving you time, material

and money.

Accessories

Many of our sinks come with custom

accessories, including bottom bowl racks

and cutting boards, to extend the longevity

of the sink and enhance functionality. Basic

accessories are available for all of our kitchen

sinks. In addition, several sinks, like Stages

and Indio®, come with accessories unique to

their functionality.

Flush-Mount

Similar to inset, this method of installing a

stainless steel sink with a slim rim, flush with

the worktop is an uncreasingly popular look

in contemporary kitchen design. KOHLER's

most contemporary stainless steel sinks

(Stages™, 8 Degree™, Poise™ & Vault™) can

be installed in this way.

Bar and Preparation Sinks

Bar and Preparation sinks can be also

installed as a complement to the main

sink in the kitchen to help in food prep or

cleanup or as a stand-alone sink in a family

room, entertainment area or anywhere else

you entertain guests.

a wall-mount tap can help you achieve that

clutter-free look. Several of our deck-mount

taps, in traditional and contemporary styles, are

available as wall-mount taps.

Pull-Out SprayOffering the same functionality as pull-down

taps, pullout taps generally have a larger section

of the tap that pulls away. If you like a larger grip

area, a pullout tap may be more comfortable for

you to use.
