Hi', everybody! VW e ll, this ia it! W hy, the be
ginning of our spring vacation, of course. Today is the first day of it and we don’t have to be back in school until A p ril 9.
About the most important thing that happened at L H S last week was the 2-hour meeting of the Jun io r a n d S e n i o r G o u n c i Is for the purpose of making a decision about the Prom. Because of the curfew, it was decided t h a t p e o p l e
could not attend the Prom and “go places,” as M r. Burke put it. So, w e figured that the best plan was to sort of convert the gym into a night club with tables, and soft light and, you know— everything else that goes w ith it!
Anyhow, that was the decision Now it’s up to you kids to decide!
W e beg your pardon! It seems that last week this column congratulated the orchestra for tak ing part in the concert. Norma Martoglio informs us that they had nothing to do 'w ith it. My, this newspaper business is certa in ly risky!
The reason w h y everyone was ceptionally quiet last Wednesday was because T H E L IG H T H O U S E was distributed in home rooms. One bright senior walked into the class, saw everyone with their heads bowed, figured they were having morning exercises, and walked out again. Miss Hennings thought Dawn was having a fit.
Here's a good joke to play on someone. Ask a person what a "xylophone" (pronounced zi-lo- fon) is. The natural reaction is to start motion with, imaginary wooden hammers. Immediately you say, “ P la y louder. I can't hear you!" O n ly look out, you may get a slap in the face.
Honestly, that hlack eye that Ed ith Earl is wearing these days W A Sinto a door!,
The girls' intram ural vo lley ball, league has really created quite a bit of excitement. Louise Toron’s team is leading in the frsshmen and sophomore group* On Tuesday afternoon the jun iors and seniors played off their games with the hopes of determ ining a final w inner before the vacation. W e ll, you might know that Flo G ilbert’s and M arilyn Ea rp ’s teams would tie for first place, so now we have to w ait a while! A s for boys’ intramural basket ball, there sure was a iot of excitement on Monday night when the Terrors beat the Hornets by only 2 points in the champion ship game. The amazing thing abdut it, though, is that the T e r rors” are an all-senior team white the Hornets are composed mainly of freshmen who were expected to be swamped. M r M cDonald thinks the boys w ill make good varsity material next year In April, the main activ ity w ill be intramural softball

•nd THE SOUTH BERGEN REVIEW Established 1921 The Leader reserve» this space for the boys in
service — who they are, where they are and what they are doing. Our newspaper, which is sent without cost to any L'yndhurst service man who wants it. has proved such an aid in keeping each other informed about their whereabouts that we w ill each w eek set aside space for them. If relatives receive interesting letters their neighbors might enjoy reading, we w ill gladly print them.
