DESCRIPTION
Introduction to my thesis : Knowledge management is not a new science trend but an update of management principles. More and more companies prove their interest in Knowledge Management, but only few of them have deployed a KM system. This can be explained by the general non-comprehension of the KM goals and difficulties to deploy such a project. However, as we will see; knowledge management gives a competitive edge and, secondly, has the capacity to enrich the knowledge of each employee. We can give, receive, exchange and update knowledge together. While doing my research, I realised that heavy industry was forgetful of KM literature. However, this is a great arena to deploy it in since the effectiveness of the relationship, the technically high level of knowledge is present. So, why don’t we just do it? Technical aspects are complex Organisational assets Relationships are direct and atypical In some cases, commitment of the employees is complete With these conditions, how can we integrate a KM system? What ideas could be useful? The answer could be found within the MCI10 matrix and concept. Throughout this thesis, we will see points for both parts: KM as scope and core, and project management another one. I wish every single project manager working for the heavy industry could approach this matrix and make it comfortable and convenient for his company. Introduction
• I had experience mainly in manufacturing background
• Why MKT2 is not used on the plant? To where can we “push” further? Bearing in mind knowledge management is far more interesting for a plant than e-learning
• Consequently, MKT2 can be improve at least in a content manner
• Knowledge management in manufacturing background is not heavily discussed by literature
• Initially change management is not performed at all, operation shifts and shop floor is not committed with the program
• My post-engineering degree in project management could be a key idea to grow the way to manage MKT2
• Knowledge management is a competitive advantage and allow us to learn a lot from issues, from people, from common knowledge in a plant
